Dear Future Self, I am writing to share with you my aspirations for the future. Over the past few months, I have experienced significant personal and professional growth. The truth you don’t know about transitioning into tech! My journey into the tech space is quite different from that of some friends I know. Today, the tech industry has become the destination many are being invited to daily. NGOs and non-NGOs are organizing events for individuals to kickstart their careers in tech. It’s a fantastic opportunity, no doubt! Some people join for the financial gains, while others are told to just dive in because tech is the future. Different strokes for different folks. I've come across people who transitioned but failed to grasp what they needed to prepare for their new careers. For a significant number of individuals, it's similar to being in the university without a clear understanding of what they are doing there. You need to understand that learning a tech skill is like acquiring a vocational skill. Picture spending years learning tailoring without mastering the necessary techniques, it's a no-brainer; you'd conclude the person knows nothing. Ultimately, this career is a battle against yourself, your demons, and your fears. To survive, determination is key. Please do not just be passionate about exploring tech. Passion without determination is nothing. As you make your decision today, determine your reason, seek guidance/mentorship, and be prepared for the challenging days because the journey will inevitably get tough. Stay calm and consistent.
