Shaki'ya is a senior in our Jobs for North Carolina's Graduates (JNCG) program. When asked how JNCG impacted her, this was her response: "JNCG has helped me truly understand myself and has given me the courage to go after whatever I put my mind to. I am thankful for this course because it has taught me so many valuable life skills that most people don't learn until they are well into adulthood. Not only was the class amazing but Ms.Robinson is an amazing teacher who actually takes time to connect with us, make us feel good about ourselves, and lead us in the right direction. She always pushed us to be better than we were the day before." Visit our website to learn more about our JNCG program. #allInforkids

I am pleased to share the transformative journey I experienced during my international exchange program at the UNCW - University of North Carolina Wilmington, undoubtedly the most enriching five months of my life. Undertaking this exchange with a primary goal of expanding my academic horizons in Economics, I was met with an ideal environment at UNCW. The university's world class campus culture became the backdrop for valuable connections and lifelong friendships. Engaging in cross-cultural dialogues not only broadened my worldview but also offered insights extending far beyond the classroom. Participation in events, projects, or extracurricular activities added an extra layer of depth to my overall experience, fostering personal and intellectual growth. From navigating a new academic system to adapting to a different cultural landscape, each challenge presented an invaluable opportunity for personal and intellectual growth. The ability to embrace change and uncertainty has become a cornerstone of my skill set, positioning me as a more adaptable and resilient professional. My heartfelt gratitude goes to the faculty, staff, and fellow students at UNCW, who made this experience truly memorable. Reflecting on this transformative experience, all the experiences, life lessons, and knowledge gained during my time at UNCW have shaped, above all, the person I have become today. Furthermore, they have profoundly influenced and continue to impact my academic and professional journey. Once again, I express my gratitude to UNCW for allowing me the opportunity to live the American Dream. #UNCW #InternationalExchange #GlobalEducation #AmericanDream #AcademicJourney #PersonalGrowth

It was great to get a chance to reflect on the year I've been a part of PSEC, and the opportunities that the network provides and has provided not just for myself, but for all early careers staff here at the University. Read more about how your institution could benefit from an early careers network in our AHEP article, and watch this space!

Every year since 1995, the National Science Foundation’s Faculty Early Career Development Program has awarded five-year grants to junior faculty members who serve as academic role models in research and education. These grants, which are known as CAREER awards, are some of the most prestigious available to early-career researchers and often serve as a foundation for an illustrious career in research. Rice University psychologist Danielle King will use her 2023 CAREER award of $530,000 to examine how organizations can support employees who are facing race-based threats — and what strategies employers could use to prevent them from happening altogether. https://bit.ly/3KmQtjm

It’s always great going back to campus! Last week I spoke on a panel to Saint Louis University students in the Micah Program Service Learning Community about career readiness and the importance of having professionals who are civically engaged. The students had a lot of great questions about how their community service today will help them in their careers and beyond. I can’t wait to see how high these Micahs soar. #SLU #Billikens #CareerPanel #NextGeneration

Here’s to a new chapter(:
🌟 Please join us in welcoming Jasmyn Robinson, M.Ed. to JCU! 🌟 Jasmyn is originally from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, but came to Ohio in 2017 to go to Kent State University. She received her Bachelor's degree in psychology in 2021, making her the first in her family to obtain a degree. After a year off of school working as a registered behavioral technician, Jasmyn decided it was time to go back to get her Masters degree. She was accepted into the Kent State Higher Education and Administration program in 2022 and started as a Graduate Assistant in the Career Exploration and Development office, where she had the opportunity to provide career advising and teach a course called Career Navigation. Her second year in the program, she had another opportunity to be a Graduate Assistant for Student Success Programs. Jasmyn is grateful for all the experiences she had at Kent State, as well as all the wonderful people who have helped her along the way. She believes all her experiences have led her here to JCU, and she is thrilled to be here! Jasmyn's new role at JCU is as an Academic Success Advisor for the Boler College of Business. She is really looking forward to working with the first- and second-year students and helping them feel comfortable and confident in their educational journey here at JCU. Being her first week, she still has a lot to learn, but everyone has been so welcoming and helpful that it makes her excited to see what is in store for her career here at John Carroll University! #newhire #welcome #employeeonboarding

Students enrolled in Pearl Careers' CLS Classes are guided to show respect and admiration towards others, not solely in response to how they are treated, but as a reflection of our culture of honor. Our guiding principle is simple: "Respect isn't contingent on reciprocity; we express respect because our culture is rooted in honor." #careerclarityandlifeskillseducation #careerclarity #lifeskillsforkids #qualityeducation #socialacumen #socialimpact #socialemotionallearning #sdgs2030 #sdg4 #sdgs #shapethefuture #shapingthefuture #holisticeducation #holisticlearning #pearlcareers
