📣 Want to hear a cool idea? Meg Hitchick, Acting Campus Coordinator at our Vincentia Novo Education Space campus, told me today that she was up late ‘musing’ one night this week and made a connection between Self-Determination Theory (with its autonomy, competence and relatedness channels) and the Relationship Domains. 🗣️ She’ll probably tell it better than me, but essentially, she noticed that if we’re in the: - ‘To Box’ with a student (or other person), we deny them their autonomy - ‘For Box’, we deny them their competence - ‘Not Box’, we deny them their relatedness And so, if we don’t do the ‘With Box’, we’re essentially denying them all three. 💡 This is a cool connection! 🤩 And it’s also cool that Meg, who is only in her 6th week with us, is already thinking critically about elements of our pedagogy that will enhance our practice. This #PhD studentship from CDT SuMMeR is designed to draw on different disciplines in order to contribute to science but also to practice.
