🎉 Nixa received the rankings from US News on our junior high, intermediate, and elementary schools. We are excited that all of our schools placed in the top 20% in the state, and many are in the top 3%. 🦅 Nixa Junior High is the #5 middle school in the state of Missouri and was the second highest in the Springfield metro behind Central High School's magnet program. Mathews Elementary was the top elementary school in the Springfield metro area. 👏 These results continue to show how Nixa is one of the elite districts in the state of Missouri. Two Loudoun elementary schools were recently named in the top three best elementary schools in Virginia according to a Niche ranking. Ashburn’s Waxpool Elementary School ranked first among the 1,124 elementary schools included in the list and Aldie’s Goshen Post Elementary School ranked third, based on its academics, teachers, culture and diversity, and surveys from students and parents. Twelve other #Loudoun elementary schools ranked in the top 100. The Niche rankings differ from others that rely almost exclusively on test scores and academic performance in that it also includes input from students, alumni and parents, as well as quantitative data from sources such as the U.S. Department of Education to evaluate teachers, resources and facilities. "Former Bunnell Elementary School principal signed off on assemblies last month for all Black 4th and 5th-grade students. Presenters showed the students a PowerPoint with one page headlined "The problem: AA (African American) students have underperformed on standardized assessments.” After reading the article linked below and quoted above, I feel compelled to share with my friends and connections in education to read "We Want to Do More than Survive" by Dr. Bettina Love. I wish it was integrated into teacher prep programs. Where have we seen shaming / blaming children create positive outcomes? Not to mention the fact blaming children for systemically induced deficits and gaps. YET, this type of behavior happens far too often. Let me know what you think of the book.
