The recent study "Effect of Simulation Case Complexity on Engagement During Distance Debriefing - A Randomized Controlled Trial," led by Cynthia J. Mosher, PhD, and team, investigates the impact of simulation scenario complexity on participant engagement in remote debriefing sessions. Conducted amid the unique challenges posed by distance education, this research explores how varying levels of scenario complexity influence educator and learner engagement, psychological safety, and mental workload during debriefings. Hans Selye, MD, PhD, DSc was the first to describe the body’s “general adaptation syndrome” later termed ‘stress.’ His students, including one of the authors (S. Szabo) have continued to research and educate in this area, and in 2013, they organized the 1st Summer School on Stress (SSS) in Budapest, Hungary to provide a forum for research focused on stress.
