The biggest misconception about PTSD is that it has to do with humans not being able to recover from trauma. Humans have an endless capacity to recover from trauma, and the event itself does not cause PTSD. What causes PTSD is the reaction of 'loved ones' who, instead of providing compassion, are somewhat 'happy' that there is someone more broken than they are, which initiates the victimization pattern. PTSD is essentially a social problem, not a human problem, and if treated as such, it can lead to much quicker and more effective results. However, this would require reinventing social structures, as people are often trapped under the authority of their parents or individuals in positions of authority.
