🌍 Welcome to T20 Brasil! 🚀 The T20 is a G20 engagement group that brings together think tanks and research centres from G20 members and guest countries and organisations. Think tanks can contribute to the T20 in a variety of formats such as participating in the T20 conferences and meetings, proposing and organizing side events, submitting policy briefs, and joining the task forces activities. Following the principles of inclusiveness, representativeness and effectiveness, T20 Brasil will seek to engage a large number of national and foreign think tanks. ADI Regional Director for the Americas, Diego Aguilar has arrived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for C20 Midterm Meeting, taking part in two days of discussions as a member of the Steering Committee. This event follows on from the C20 Inception Meeting held in Recife, Brazil. Since 2013, C20 has been an official engagement group for the G20 that seeks to ensure more balanced dialogues during each G20 summit. Brazil, as host of this year's G20 summit in November will convene 20 of the world's largest economies under the theme of 'Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet'. Aligning with their year as G20 host, Brazil has also recently taken decisive action to help improve the lives of those living with dementia and their carers in the county, with President Lula signing Brazil's first National Dementia Plan into law in June 2024. The African Union’s inclusion in the G20 must be seen as a call to action for African countries to seize this opportunity. It is vital for African leaders to leverage their participation to push for reforms, address systemic barriers, and promote inclusive policies that benefit the entire continent.

‘G21’ So … this happened, the African Union is now part of ‘G20’ as a permanent member, a powerful acknowledgement of a continent of 1 billion people. It only took 7years since they first applied and 24 years since the establishment of G20. 🙃 better late than never! This group of countries and unions address issues related to ✅global economy, such as international financial stability ✅climate change mitigation ✅sustainable development Until then only South Africa was part of the coalition, as a single country, not representing the interests of everybody else. Today more countries have a sit at the table, however… the African Union represents 🌍55 countries 🤯3000+ different ethnic groups 😁2000+ languages 🤓with a variety of religions.. I am thrilled to present my certification following an incredible virtual experience at the 8th Edition of the International Youth Conference (IYC8), which took place from September 21 to 24, 2023. Organized by Generation Next with the support of United Nations UN-Habitat, AFS Intercultural Programs, the Civil Society Unit the UN Department of Global Communications and other civil society organizations Coinciding with the #UnitedNations High-Level Week. The conference, #IYC8, was closely linked with the 2023 #SDG Summit. Providing a platform for young people to discuss the progress made towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by #2030 and explore ways young people can contribute to this effort. The conference prioritized the inclusion of marginalized youth, with a particular focus on youth from the global south and indigenous communities. It aimed at reaching out to populations that have not been heard by the #UN before, ensuring that their voices are heard and included in the conversation. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all who participated in this pivotal dialogue centered around the theme, "Empowering Youth for Sustainable Development Goals: From Discourse to Innovation, Inclusion, and Action." The conference was a remarkable platform where diverse voices converged to address the pressing issues of our time, and I am honored to have played a part in this essential conversation. I believe that the collaboration and insights shared during IYC8 will drive tangible progress towards a more sustainable and inclusive future. As we move forward, let us continue to channel the momentum from this conference into real-world action, working collectively to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
