Did you know that around 3.5 million people in the UK will be affected by a #RareDisease at some point in their lives? This month we’re shining a light on #Fabry disease, a rare and under-diagnosed condition that is estimated to affect between 1:40,000 people, in Caucasian males it is around 1:17,000. Fabry disease is a rare genetic lysosomal storage disorder, where you don’t have enough of a certain enzyme that breaks down fats. These fats collect in blood vessels and tissues, raising the risk of heart attack, stroke and kidney failure.
