Protecting the Right to Health: A Global Imperative 🌍✊ As diseases, disasters, and conflicts threaten millions, and the climate crisis exacerbates, the right to health is under siege. Despite 140 countries recognizing health as a human right, essential health services remain out of reach for over half the world's population. For World Health Day 2024, the theme 'My health, my right' calls for universal access to quality healthcare, education, clean air, water, and more. At the “Climate x Health: The next frontier of climate resilient primary health care” webinar, Dr. Kimberly Green and Dr. Swati Mahajan from PATH, Agnes Soares da Silva from Ministério da Saúde, Daouda Diouf from Foundation S, and Vincent Bretin from Unitaid shared local solutions and future opportunities to address climate change in the geographies hit hardest.    #Climatechange poses the largest threat to human health in the 21st century. Its impacts include malnutrition, infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases, and mental health problems – issues that are increasingly seen in #PrimaryHealthCare services. Extreme weather events caused by climate change are associated with immediate loss of life and injuries, ongoing poor health outcomes, destruction of communities and livelihoods, and disruption of #healthsystems and #PHC services.    Key takeaways from the event:    🤝 Co-create community- and climate-responsive systems and #innovations. They must be safe, resilient, responsive, and adapted to the needs of the communities most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.    ⚒ Build strong and resilient PHC. Climate change is not only harming our communities directly and indirectly in many ways, but it's also impacting our facilities, our funding, and further burdening our already struggling systems. The research shows clearly that those of us who are concerned about climate change are a Supermajority. We just underestimate the percent of the people around us who are also concerned, so we've largely been silently worrying, alone. You are not alone. This toolkit is sure to help you integrate small (or large) actions into your usual routines that can help both you and your patients and communities.
