I was once a Psych undergrad nearing the end of my degree, knowing, without a doubt, that I didn't want to pursue further formal education, and in my field, this meant a pivot. The two marketing internships I sought out back to back in my final year were incredibly important in aligning my career path and enabling me to gain clarity on what it was I wanted to do. Fast forward 11 years, and I find myself in a position where I am actively contributing to trying to make sure all students, regardless of their background, have access to these opportunities. One such way is for universities to actively integrate internships into degree programs, helping students from diverse backgrounds to build relevant skills and stand out in the job market.
