❌ STOP Making A Schedule For The Gym! There are only 52 Mondays in a year... ...And it’s a slam dunk for schedules to fall apart daily in sports sales. Especially when appointments go over, long calls, and last-minute meetings. A common thing I see is if execs don’t start their routines on Monday or miss the first half of the week. They just show up on the days they have left or they throw away the week and plan on starting next Monday. Plus relying first on a schedule is often the reason sports execs are out of shape (despite their best intentions). Do THIS Instead📝 Turn your schedule into standards first. For example: "My standard is to work out 3 times per week, yet my schedule is always changing”. Remember: The results you get in sales and life are equal to the standards to which you hold yourself to. And a busy schedule should never be an excuse to not stay in shape and hit your fitness goals. In reality, very, very few studios are doing this. As a gym owner or fitness manager, you should be 👇🏼 ✅ Encouraging your team to enthusiastically talk about your programs and their benefits, if you all believe that what you offer can help people *If you don't believe in what you offer, we've got deeper issues to resolve first! ✅ Assuming that you have to help people choose the right package based on their needs, because most people don't have the slightest clue what the right package for them is ✅ Recommending what you think the best package/membership option is for them (after asking them a few questions) Many studios need a mindset shift around sales if they're going to help and impact more people. Imagine joining a sports team and the only thing they ever do for practice is divide the group into two teams and play scrimmage games. Day after day, week after week, every practice is the same; “this half the room is team A, this half of the room is team B, now go play ball!” I imagine at the beginning of the season you’d see some real improvements, as the simple act of repetition helped people get better. But after the first dozen practices? The gains would probably be minor. And after a few months? Probably very little improvement. ^^ This approach to practice is called repetition based practice, and it’s why most sales role plays aren’t all that effective outside of onboarding (or maybe when you’re rolling out something brand new to the team). And it’s why most tenured reps resist role plays, they might not have the words for it but they can tell in their gut that it isn’t helping. If you want your role play to actually sharpen your reps' skills and improve in-call performance, you need to align it with the principles of deliberate practice that govern how professional athletes and musicians practice. #sales #practice #training
