She leads many of the firm’s Passive House and LEED projects and directs C+GA’s commitment to meeting the The American Institute of Architects (AIA) 2030 Challenge and Material Pledge. Her work to advance high performance design directly contributed to C+GA’s 2021 Ivory Prize for Innovation in Affordable Housing. Crystal has degrees in architecture and urban design from Columbia University and the University of Southern California and currently teaches in the Building Energy Exchange’s Passive House Primer Program. Her design work and writing have appeared in Dezeen, Oculus, Landscape Architecture Magazine, Volume Magazine, Architectural Digest, the Venice Design Biennial, AIA New York | Center for Architecture and Urban Omnibus. Kaja is a passionate educator and teaches seminars and design studios at Columbia University and the The City College of New York in addition to frequent workshops in non-institutional settings. Her work and teaching focuses on civic engagement and design for a regenerative, low-carbon built environment. New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is building back safer, stronger, and smarter by improving structural resiliency and infrastructure protection at Coney Island Sites (Surfside, O’Dwyer, Site 8) 🌊🏢. NYCHA's Recovery and Resiliency Department (R&R) is pushing design boundaries in building reinforcements, storm surge protection, and infrastructure upgrades.
