What a game. I understand there is not much love between you and NBA and I am sorry for that. BIG3 is an amazing format between the NBA and FIBA 3x3. We all saw the message from the founder Ice Cube that his best team would always win from the best 3x3 team. Maybe true maybe not, it has not been tested yet. What is tested is that we talk about two different formats. FIBA 3x3 is street, preffered on a court outside where wind plays a role, sunshine or rain. FIBA 3x3 is played by a team of 4, BIG3 has one player extra per team. The BIG3 Court is much bigger, more space to correct a mistake. And after every score, the teams take their time. Very little transition game. In FIBA 3x3 you get 12 seconds to make a score, BIG3 it is 14. And 2 seconds make a huge difference in the fast game of 3x3. FIBA 3x3 players are not of former NBA caliber, that is true. But the pace of the game of FIBA 3x3 is also not that of a NBA game, nor like the BIG3 as you can see when you watch the final. And let me repeat, this means both formats are exciting. Not better. Both are very exciting to watch and follow. Still I would love to see it happen, especially with our Dutch Olympia champions as matchup, but if played in a FIBA 3x3 context, I would think twice to place all your money on the BIG3 team. Basketball is developing with amazing new formats, the mentioned ones, and you can add 1on1, The Baskteball Tournament with Elam Ending and BIG3 in a very short time has earned a place on top just as FIBA 3x3 did. Congratulations to BIG3 for another thrilling season.

Sessions one and two complete, twenty-six to go in the tournament. Initial impressions: As is usually the case in Amateur Boxing, there have already been several fights in the tournament that were very competitive and ended in split decisions. What there has not been, however, is much controversy and it really seems like what was established by the Olympic Boxing taskforce that oversaw the tournament in 2021 has remained in place with the new association that is now overseeing things after the IBA (Then known as the AIBA) was ousted following the 2016 games. I like how they have kept the open scoring format, which should limit controversy due to the open transparency in being able to know the scores of five judges while a fight is in progress. Women's Boxing was a significant feature of day one and I'm happy to see that women are being allowed to compete in three minute rounds as they were in 2021, the same as their male counterparts and something that I have been screaming to see universally adapted in the professional ranks for years. If there is one slight criticism, as has been the case since 2016, there are some professional fighters competing and one world champion so far. Although that world champion was defeated earlier today, I remain firm in my stance that the Olympic Boxing tournament is supposed to be the pinnacle of Amateur Boxing before fighters choose to enter the professional side of the sport. With all due respect to the professionals competing, it should stay a strictly amateur tournament even though the pro fighters that have competed in the tournament since 2016 have not done well. Short break for me before the pro fights tonight. Will be getting that content I mentioned this morning out before the pro fights. Though I wanted to get that done this morning, I got into session one and needed a little rest before the second session began. ATP Tour just announced a new Doubles format trial in MTP! A trial in a Masters 1000? Here is my POV! 1- ATP: More Singles vs. Doubles action. Me: The naming of that rule is incomprehensible! Top singles players would have played more doubles if they wanted to in the first place. Doubles players ranked in the 30's and below are probably going crazy right now! 2- ATP: Streamlined schedule. Me: I agree with that one. 3- ATP: Reduced shot clock. Me: This is going to get messy for players and referees! Players have a lot to think about and don't keep count of the shots in each point. 15 seconds between each point is fine but keep it consistent throughout. 4- ATP: Quicker changeovers.
