Every month Creekside is celebrating the amazing team we have by showcasing one of our team members. February's team member spotlight is Creekside's Renaissance man, Steve! He is one of our Project Executives and has been with Creekside for 12 years. Steve brings his great worth ethic and infectious positive attitude with him wherever he goes. He is a supportive and encouraging leader, who excels at building strong teams and Creekside is very lucky to have him! Let's learn a little bit more about Steve... Q: How many years in the industry? A: Started working in construction with my dad when I was 14 so, 28 years. Q: What do you love/enjoy about the field? A: I love that in this field I am always learning, and with each project I always get to learn a little more. Also, I love experiencing projects from different perspectives which are all valid. A carpenter sees a project differently than it does as a project executive and having experienced both, I think they are both pretty cool. Q: What is one of your favorite things to do on your weekends/ day off? A: Snowboarding in the wintertime, and anything on two wheels in the summer. Q: If you had a superpower, what would it be? A: I think it would be awesome to be able to fly. Q: What’s your guilty pleasure song? A: ‘We Know The Way’ from Moana. Apparently have seen that movie too many times. Q: What is the worst fashion decision you ever made? Do you have pictures? A: Wearing Jean shorts, AKA Jorts to the gym. May not ever live that one down and all pictures have been destroyed that I am aware of.

Today’s Staff Spotlight features Jayson Gabriel, Operations Manager at Reliable Overhead Door Systems, A Division of Alllmar in Winnipeg. Jayson is going on two years with the company and enjoys the people aspect of his role, particularly building relationships and building a functional team. Jayson is results driven and enjoys focusing, planning, and achieving goals. Having worked for 20 years in the manufacturing industry has allowed him to make many connections, see people’s growth, and make some lifelong friends.   When asked what he likes best about the door and hardware industry, Jayson highlighted growth opportunities, finding success in navigating the daily challenges, working with a team to meet the goals of our customers, and feeling a sense of pride in doing so.   When asked what he most enjoys about working for the Allmar organization, Jayson commented that the company “invest(s) in their staff, helping them to grow and understand various aspects of the industry, upholds family values, and has an open-door policy to its employees.”   Fun fact about Jayson: Jayson’s hobby is photography and he and his daughter have fun posting hidden gems of Winnipeg. Today I’d like to talk about legacy, and its importance to me personally, and to Whalen Exteriors as a company. I posted a photo last weekend in my stories of my son Finnegan’s birthday cake. He insisted on having a Whalen Exteriors-themed party for his seventh birthday. To say that his interest and love for the company that we’ve built fills me with pride is a huge understatement. Seeing the conviction and pride he exudes when talking about our company fills me with immeasurable joy, but also carries with it, a responsibility to ensure that the values that have been passed on to me from my father, get passed on to my sons. I learned the values of hard work, honesty, integrity, and a passion for helping our customers by observing my father throughout my life, just as my sons will by watching me. Legacy represents the heart and soul of our company. It’s a testament to the countless hours, sweat, and determination that have gone into making Whalen Exteriors what it is today. But it’s not just about the past; it’s about ensuring a bright future. Passing this attitude and these values on to the next generation is not just a responsibility, it’s a privilege. It allows us to honor the hard work and sacrifices made by those who have come before us. It’s a way of paying tribute to the trust and support our customers have placed in us throughout the years. Our legacy is a reflection of the relationships we’ve built and the impact we’ve had on the communities we serve. Knowing that my children are proud of what we’ve built, and want to be involved in what we do as much as possible means way more to me than profits, growth, or any other metric of success.
