Last week, we honored those who have lost their lives for our country on Memorial Day. Today, on the 80th anniversary of D-Day, we remember the sacrifices of the 160,000 service members that took part in that mission, which would forever change the course of history.

Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), the official name for both the War in Afghanistan and the larger Global War on Terror (GWOT), began on October 7, 2001, when American and British warplanes, warships, and submarines began targeting Taliban forces and al-Qaeda.
Thirteen years later, on December 28, 2014, President Barack Obama announced the end of Operation Enduring Freedom. He said, “For more than 13 years, ever since nearly 3,000 innocent lives were taken from us on 9/11, our nation has been at war in Afghanistan.
Now, thanks to the extraordinary sacrifices of our men and women in uniform, our combat mission in Afghanistan is ending, and the longest war in American history is coming to a responsible conclusion…. We give thanks to our troops and intelligence personnel who have been relentless against the terrorists responsible for 9/11…. We honor the profound sacrifices that have made this progress possible…. Most of all, we remember the more than 2,200 American patriots who made the ultimate sacrifice in Afghanistan, and we pledge to stand with their Gold Star families who need the everlasting love and support of a grateful nation.”
Beginning on January 1, 2015, subsequent operations in Afghanistan by the United States' military forces occurred under the name Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.

YOU KNOW IN YOUR HEART OF HEARTS HE SAID IT NO MATTER HOW MUCH HE SAYS "FAKE NEWS"!
Welcome to the Ultimate Showdown: Conning Conundrum Syndrome vs. Trump Derangement Syndrome!
In one corner, we have... Conning Conundrum Syndrome (CCS)!
- Symptoms: Unshakable loyalty, denial reflex, and the blame game shuffle. Victims insist they haven't been conned by Trump and Putin, despite overwhelming evidence that could make a blindfolded jury shout "Guilty!"
And in the other corner, we have... Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS)!
- Symptoms: Uncontrollable eye-rolling at the mention of Trump, spontaneous fits of fact-checking, and an intense urge to debunk every tweet. Accused sufferers vehemently oppose Trump, sometimes with a fervor that rivals a sports fan during the playoffs.
CCS - "Conning Conundrum Syndrome" is like having a GPS that stubbornly refuses to recalibrate. You're headed for a cliff, but it keeps saying, "Turn right in 100 feet." You’re convinced the destination is glorious, but spoiler alert: it’s a steep drop into reality.
TDS - "Trump Derangement Syndrome" is like having a highly sensitive radar that detects every single Trump-related blip, no matter how small. You’re hyper-aware of every move, comment, and typo, often resulting in high blood pressure and a sudden urge to tweet.
Denial vs. Obsession
- CCS: "No way, Trump’s perfect!"
- TDS: "No way, Trump’s terrible!"
Blame Game vs. Blame Flame
- CCS: "What about those emails?"
- TDS: "What about that tax return?"
Loyalty vs. Paranoia
- CCS: "Trump could do no wrong."
- TDS: "Trump can do no right."
The Hilarious Hypocrisy:
- CCS sufferers are like fans at a magic show, utterly convinced that the magician’s tricks are real, while TDS sufferers are the skeptics yelling, "I see the wires!"
- CCS Remedy: "Come on, admitting you've been conned isn't that bad. Think of it like realizing the magician pulls rabbits out of hats, not thin air."
- TDS Remedy: "Hey, take a breath. Sometimes it’s okay to let a tweet pass by without a full investigation. Not every blip is a bombshell."
In the grand scheme of things, both CCS and TDS could use a little bit of perspective, a dash of humor, and a lot less stress. After all, life’s too short to be stuck in a syndrome, right?
So, whether you’re staunchly defending or constantly critiquing, remember to laugh along the way. Because in the end, we’re all just trying to navigate this crazy world, one conundrum at a time.

Some people miss the point. Trump’s comments were an indictment of corrupt leaders who use war as a money making machine - which makes the victims of war ‘losers’.
Thus, he and we, honor the fallen and the living all the more for their service and sacrifice. THEY are the REAL PATRIOTS.
HERE ARE THE REAL FACTS:
On Christmas day 2018 President Trump and the First Lady made a surprise visit to Iraq where he told the troops that countries must sometimes pay a "monetary price" for the United States’ military involvement [referring to NATO and oil rich nationsof the Middle East]. "We’re no longer the suckers, folks. And people aren’t looking at us as suckers… We’re respected again as a nation.”
On June 6, 1944, thousands of Allied troops landed on the beaches of Normandy to liberate Nazi-occupied Western Europe. The invasion was one of the largest seaborne attacks in human history.
This photograph of American soldiers was captured by Robert Capa at Omaha Beach on that day. Capa was one of two magazine war correspondents who accompanied U.S. forces landing on the shores of Normandy.
80th Anniversary of D-Day
Freedom has a price…
On 06 June 1944, Allied forces launched Operation Overlord - a massive invasion of Normandy, France with more than 150,000 troops. Ending with nearly 20,000 casualties on each side, it was a pivotal battle of World War II and the beginning of a prolonged, costly and ultimately successful campaign to liberate north-west Europe.
Western leaders including President Macron, President Joe Biden and King Charles were present at Normandy on 06 June 2024 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day- the greatest amphibious landing in history. Among those present at the impressive ceremony were few survivors of D-Day, some aged over 100 years and their relatives. Functions are being held across the US and Europe at a time when Europe is in the middle of its most bloody war since World War II.
Was Operational Overlord the greatest military operation in history?

Today marks the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
On 6 June 1944, nearly 160,000 troops from the U.S., Britain, Canada, and many other nations crossed the English Channel. A 1,200-plane airborne assault preceded an amphibious assault involving more than 5,000 vessels. It was as part of the biggest air, land and sea invasion ever executed.
The day is billed as “the beginning of the end of war in Europe.”
Operation Overlord was the codename for the Battle of Normandy, the Allied operation that launched the successful invasion of German-occupied Western Europe during World War II. The operation was launched on 6 June 1944 with the Normandy Landings (D-Day).
Allied troops landed on the beaches code-named Omaha, Utah, Juno, Sword and Gold. On that single day, 4,414 Allied soldiers lost their lives,
2,501 of them Americans. More than 5,000 were wounded.
By the end of August, more than two million Allied troops were in France.
"This operation is not being planned with any alternatives. This operation is planned as a victory, and that's the way it's going to be. We're going down there, and we're throwing everything we have into it, and we're going to make it a success."
--General Dwight D. Eisenhower

WAR VETERANS - FROM SPIRITUAL, TO MENTAL AND PHYSICAL CARE👥
📝Anticipating the possible arrival of persons exposed to military experience in Ukraine gives us time to prepare our resources, and strengthen our capacities to support the needs of these persons.
Creating a safe network for Ukrainian War Veterans and their families is vital. For that, we are engaging not only with the Ukrainian diaspora, community centres, and state administration but also with the churches around the country.
🤝 That is why we met with the chief chaplain Jaroslav Knichal of the Armáda České republiky (the Czech Army) and Štěpán Daněk from the Department of Strategic Communication of the Ministerstvo vnitra (Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic).
By investing now in preventive activities, we are laying the foundations for the future, when we will pay significant attention to promoting spiritual care in the resocialization and reintegration process enriching the capacity resilience of the Ukrainian community in Czechia.
