Gerresheimer expands capacities for Medical Systems in the USA "North America is an important growth market for us. The expansion of the site in Peachtree City is of great importance for our medical device business in the USA," says Dietmar Siemssen, CEO of Gerresheimer AG. "The expansion of this site is therefore currently one of the key projects in our global capacity expansions based on long-term customer contracts." Gerresheimer is significantly expanding its production capacities for medical systems such as inhalers and autoinjectors in the United States. In two expansion stages, the company is expanding the production area at its Peachtree City site in the state of Georgia, USA, by around 18,000 m² (194,000 sqft). Gerresheimer is investing a total of around 166 million euros (USD 180 million) in the construction and equipping of the two new buildings. It will create more than 400 new jobs in Peachtree City as part of the expansion. The company currently employs around 270 people at the site. With the expansion in Peachtree, Gerresheimer is also underscoring its leading market position as a system and solution provider for drug delivery systems in the North American market. I always emphasize the importance of balancing acquisitions and organic growth to enable a healthy growth of business. A very good example of this is our approach in the field of medical devices.   As you may have noticed, GBA Group recently acquired Key2Compliance, a company specialized in consulting and training services, mainly in the field of medical devices. At the same time, GBA Medical Device Services, which became part of the GBA Group in 2022 is also paving the way for further growth in the medical device market.   GBA Medical Services will move to a new technology center in the summer of 2024. An ultra-modern, LEAN-optimized laboratory with four times the space of the current one will be realized very close to the old site. The first time we met Michaela Hajek was at MEDICA 4 years ago. We understood that 3R LifeScience GmbH provides services for the technical and preclinical parts of medical device development, while Pharmaxi LLC provides clinical data. It creates a comprehensive list of services required by medical device companies in light of MDR. We collaborate together on clinical evaluation, as this activity requires both a technical background and clinical expertise. I am happy that this business cooperation transformed into a friendship, and business meetings can be easily combined with sightseeing tours to Potsdam. The deal comes a couple months after Johnson & Johnson debuted a new visual identity following the spinoff of its consumer unit Kenvue, “uniting” its medtech and pharmaceutical units under the parent J&J brand. Compumedics Limited - Official (ASX:CMP) CFO and company secretary David Lawson joins Jonathan Jackson in the Proactive studio to discuss CMP’s strong H1 FY24. The company leaped back to profitability and growth in the half, with sales invoiced and shipped up 38% to $26.4 million for H1 FY24, compared to H1 FY23. Sales orders taken were up 75% at $30.4 million, profits return with EBITDA was $2.2 million for H1 FY24, compared to a $(4.8)million loss for H1 FY23. Revenues for the core business grew 13% to $21.7 million for H1 FY24, compared to $19.2 million for H1 FY23. Lawson discusses the drivers of the turnaround, including with OrionMEG, Somfit and eHealth. Finally, he discusses the forward outlook and what to expect from the company in terms of growth opportunities.
