Another day at full blast for our teams at Eurosatory! We have prepared a complex scenario involving a UAV attack, an enemy vehicle intrusion and a cyber attack to demonstrate the capacities of a CS GROUP multi-domain response using the Crimson C2 to aggregate sub-systems and correlate data, and the BOREADES counter-UAV system fitted on an armoured vanguard vehicle. As the threats from unmanned aerial system swarms evolve, the United States Department of Defense is exploring options to protect our warfighters further. Tactical, High-power, Operational Responder, known as THOR, is a high-power microwave counter-drone weapon that the Air Force Research Lab has demonstrated for effective against realistic targets. Numerous drones were flown to simulate a swarm attack, and using its wide beam, high peak powers and fast-moving gimble, THOR tracked and turned off the entire swarm. The results are a promising step in protecting warfighters from the potential threat of drone attacks, adding to the suite of existing installation force protection tools. AFRL is also using THOR’s success to create a new prototype called Mjolnir, which includes key enhancements to make the system even faster, lighter, and more capable. #AFResearchLab | #AFRL | #THOR | #AFRLTHOR

There’s some interesting detail in this Politico article, including the consolidation of the “two drone CONOP”. Mavic 3 does recon and BDA; FPV delivers the 2.5kg of HE. Now - make it a six-pack & deploy from a LONG way off. Keep the price point low enough and the comms resilient enough and this type of asymmetric warfare will be a threat for years. https://lnkd.in/gSMYC_UN

Is seems that Ukraine has taught Western militaries something a little unsettling - that larger numbers of cheap, quickly developed, small, hard to find, networked, unmanned platforms deliver more successful outcomes than large, exquisitely capable, multi-million dollar, alternatives that take years to field. How long before the procurement systems for UAVs, UGVs, USVs, UUVs catch up? Can we now start to think about using our large unmanned platforms as motherships, for such smaller platforms, in the interim? Will leadership come from the militaries realising the changing battlefield, or defence suppliers showing the art of the possible?
The Gnome robotic platform is inconspicuous, so it has a longer life on the battlefield than large and expensive unmanned platforms. Two grenade launchers were added to the function of a mine carrier of anti-tank mines, the installation of four hand grenade launchers is next in line. Now the Gnom has become a real combat platform. Added control through a repeater on the FPV drone, which significantly increased the transmission range of analog video and control signals, as well as resistance to electronic warfare. When attacking, small robotic platforms must go first! The maskite doctrine must work! https://lnkd.in/dWZpz9gG https://lnkd.in/ewTX4vXy https://t.me/temerland_com

The Counter Terrorism Preparedness Network (CTPN) foresees a dynamic shift in the threat landscape posed by drones or Unmanned Aerial Vehicles over the next 5-10 years. As these airborne technologies continue to advance in complexity and capabilities, our vigilance and preparation must evolve accordingly. As drone technology has now become commercially available, it is no longer exclusive to defence. A study by PricewaterhouseCoopers indicates that the drone market will see approximately 900,000 devices in UK skies by 2030. With this in mind, it is more important than ever to recognise the risks posed by drone technology, by having the right procedures in place to handle risk effectively. Great article about combating emerging threats with an offensive mindset instead of protecting every asset. Couple of thoughts: 1. Going toe to toe with everyone who can field a drone negates the capacity, expertise, technical edge, and freedom-generated innovation of the United States. 2. The best defense is a good offense. 3. Anyone trying to field drones to fight against the US will pay less than 1/4 of what the US would pay for a similar technology and field technology in days or weeks, not years. Our competitors don't have to fight with the stifling largesse of the DoD acquisition machine. #strategybeforetactics #dodacquisition #asymmetry #dronewarfare

“The security system for the Olympic Games in Paris mistakes air conditioners for drones”: The French spent 350 million euros on an anti-drone complex, but it “completely did not live up to expectations.” “The French-made drone detector, which is designed to detect drones and ensure security at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, does not cope with its functions. In dense urban areas, the system is able to detect only one of three unmanned vehicles. At the same time, she “sees” them from a distance of 800 meters, which is too short to prevent hypothetical terrorist attacks. But the main problem with the system is that it confuses drones with air conditioner fan units. Incorrect operation of the system significantly increases the threat of terrorist attacks at the Olympics. The complex, which cost 350 million euros, does not live up to expectations at all.” #worstOlympicGamesInHistory
