Famine is looming in Sudan, with over 700,000 children under-5 at risk of dying. During his interview with Al Jazeera Media Network, Our Interim National Director John Paul T Makoni highlighted about the impact of the ongoing conflict in Sudan on children and their families and the need for humanitarian assistance. The conflict has left millions displaced and in dire need of basic necessities like healthcare, clean water, and shelter. The international community must push harder for a ceasefire and long-term peace solutions. It's time to speak out against the injustices and demand urgent humanitarian aid. Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC): The DRC has been plagued by decades of conflict, resulting in severe human rights violations and massive displacement. Public health crises, including Ebola outbreaks, further exacerbate the situation. We must amplify the voices of those suffering and support organizations working to bring stability and health to the region. Yemen: Yemen's humanitarian crisis is among the worst in the world. Famine, disease, and ongoing conflict have devastated the population, with over 80% in need of aid. This crisis demands our attention and action. We must urge our leaders to prioritize humanitarian assistance and peace negotiations. Syria: After years of civil war, Syria remains in a state of severe humanitarian distress. The massive displacement and ongoing violence cannot be ignored. Let's use our platforms to advocate for refugees and support efforts to bring peace and rebuild the nation. Myanmar: The political turmoil in Myanmar following the military coup has led to widespread violence and human rights abuses. It's crucial to stand with the people of Myanmar, calling for the restoration of democracy and protection of human rights. We cannot turn a blind eye to these atrocities. A new independent evaluation into the response of Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) member organizations and their local partners to the humanitarian crisis in northern #Ethiopia finds that although critical aid was delivered, the collective response to the needs of people was not adequate.   This is an independent assessment of the humanitarian response to the crisis in the three northern regions of Ethiopia between November 2020 and April 2023. It finds that external factors - including an extensive blockade of the Tigray region - greatly impacted operations, with serious implications for both affected people and humanitarian staff.  It notes the perseverance of IASC members and partners in delivering critical aid in extremely difficult conditions. However, it also found that humanitarian leadership within Ethiopia was ineffective and that the response was not sufficiently underpinned by humanitarian principles. As we approach the end of 2023, Myanmar faces an escalating humanitarian crisis. Over half a million people in multiple states and regions have been newly displaced since October 26, adding to the pre-existing 2 million displaced. The 2023 Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) is only 29% funded.
