Time to reflect upon the Japan Mobility Show, which ended last Sunday. Before the event, I was quite sure we are witnessing the end of the "motor show" era, with many large-scale automobile exhibitions around the world struggling to attract visitors. With many manufacturers switching to the tech-oriented CES or switching to pop-up events for a better share of voice, I was not quite sure what to expect. The numbers, however, speak for themselves. Not only did over 1.1 million visitors attend the Japan Mobility Show in general, but the reaction was overwhelmingly positive. With over 60.000 visitors on one day (triple of the previous record), the ISUZU Group booth was running at its maximum capacity. Waiting time topped one hour to sit inside a truck, most merchandise was sold out and we clocked 1400% more visitors to our special page than last time. For the first time, ISUZU and UD Trucks combined their booth as ISUZU Group, requiring more coordination but also opening up new synergies. Another innovation was hiring non-Japanese as well as male both attendants, dressed in unisex and sustainable uniforms to demonstrate our commitment to diversity and sustainability. All contents were bilingual as it should be for a global group. We also challenged the "open booth" standard by enclosing the booth and immersing visitors in our world. We were also the first commercial vehicle brand to welcome visitors with banners in the entrance hall. Lots of innovations and efforts, but they all were worthwhile! All in all, it looks like there is still plenty of love out there for cars in general, but definitely also for commercial vehicles, which should give everyone in the industry confidence to power on. For an impression, have a look at the booth impression video: https://lnkd.in/gzCHWZUR #japanmobilityshow2023 #japanmobilityshow #isuzugroup #isuzu #udtrucks #motorshow #mobility #モビリティーショー #モーターショー

We continue our celebration of automotive history, featuring Iconic Cars in Movies. Classic cars in movies: where automotive nostalgia becomes an integral part of cinematic storytelling Mini Cooper - Italian Job (1969) The Mini Cooper's role in "The Italian Job" is a cornerstone of its cinematic history. The 1969 original film, starring Michael Caine, and its 2003 remake starring Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron, and Jason Statham, feature a trio of Mini Coopers as the heist vehicles of choice. These zippy little cars, with their compact dimensions and exceptional handling, were the perfect choice for navigating the narrow streets, tight corners, and staircases of Turin, Italy, during the daring gold bullion heist sequences. The film not only showcased the Mini Cooper's agility but also catapulted it to international stardom. The scenes of the colorful Minis zipping through the streets and tunnels became iconic, solidifying the car's reputation as a symbol of British motoring and cinematic coolness. Today, the Mini Cooper's association with "The Italian Job" remains a testament to its enduring charm and timeless appeal. Ouch! DW News doesn't pull any punches in this story...and in truth, the writing has been on the wall for a very long time! Sad to say, far too many senior western auto executives failed to read, reflect, and act. My own narrative here on LinkedIn has been chronicling all this for well over a decade as YOU know (a few examples linked below) , with the prospective banquet of consequences that's now upon us documented via multiple reports, visits and videos, and subsequent opinion pieces. And please take note! I take no pleasure in sitting down to such a banquet here in europe as I want to see the industry that sustained me for almost 4 decades progress and sustain itself - and for that to happen in EVery region! Meetings of the CHI group of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile the last two days here in London hosted by the Royal Automobile Club. Interesting challenges ahead within historic motoring, and we managed to discuss the planned developments related to classic car passports, sustainable fuels, and also the technology challenges for future classic car repair and maintenance as digital components might not be available for long. Big difference when it comes to repairing old mechanic components compared to old digital components.

New Stadler KISS for ZSSK. Not good, not terrible.🤷 Few weeks ago, Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko, a. s. (ZSSK) introduced new KISS units from Stadler. These high-capacity EMU’s are intended for fast trains on the line Bratislava - Nové Zámky and later Bratislava - Žilina. #KISS is a relatively well-known and popular platform in Europe, but the version for ZSSK has some drawbacks that might be inconvenient, especially for passengers using the vehicle for long distances. What are they? First-Class Compartment: - The first-class compartment is neither visually nor acoustically separated from the other compartments in the train, causing significant discomfort for passengers paying for this class. - Lack of storage space for oversized luggage - this compartment is located on the upper floor, providing passengers with only small shelves that can accommodate small bags. What about large and oversized luggage? Second-Class Compartment: - The second-class compartment in the low-floor section is not separated by a partition from the boarding opening, making it very uncomfortable for passengers sitting in these seats during winter door openings. - Missing shelves for oversized luggage - Seats on the second floor arranged longitudinally along the vehicle axis - more suitable for short-distance travel. Instead of these seats, luggage shelves could have been placed. Such details determine whether passengers will enjoy train travel or not. It's a significant drawback, especially considering that, for example, in Germany, KISS units operate without these issues. However, the final appearance of the unit is primarily a matter of budget, specifications, and customer preferences. How do you evaluate the new KISS units for ZSSK?🚊 📷vagonweb.cz #rail #railway #passengerexperience #mobility #mobilityforpeople
