Solo Exhibition by Deborah Dicembre 27 May - 11 June 2024 'Master Peace’ - Art is the great connector, which is why , I believe , it is so healing. This exhibit , ‘Master Peace’, is about alchemising our pain and primary wounds into peace and progress. If we do that in a healthy way, we can live in peace with ourselves and with others. When you’re comfortable in your own skin , you are more pleasant to be around. When you haven’t dealt with your wounds they bleed out over your life and over others. As an abstract expressionist , I give shape , body , colour and form to ethereal or non bodied concepts such as emotions, energy , thoughts and experiences . How we process our pain and primary wounds effects our ability to live in peace and in healthy relationship with ourselves and others. Open Daily 10am-4pm

I want to share with you a report from the first NOW festival for IMEDI, where you can find my short interview. The festival was created as a protest to the destruction that war brings, through the opposite of destruction - creation, art. Is it possible to break out of the scarcity mentality trap that many museums get into? It is possible. Inspiring, courageous, generous, and bold leaders like Sally Shaw MBE, Director of Firstsite, prove it every day. When you talk to her, as I have done today, it becomes very clear. It is possible to overcome structural constraints by believing in other values such as generosity, unconditional community support, trust in each other, and inviting others to share them. I love Sally's museum-cave concept. Despite the passage of time, human beings remain the same and seek similar things: to connect with others, to feel part of others, to feel respected, valued, and supported. Sally and her team make this possible because, as she says, the more you give, the more you receive and generate. This is how a museum arises from the mentality of the gift and collective generosity. Spanning all the way through one of our massive first–floor spaces, Polynode VI by Lumus Instruments immersed visitors into an audiovisual story, asking how we can develop empathy for hypothetical digital life? Polynode VI explores the behavior of digital automata, or "virtual creatures," that occupy physical space through arrays of digital light sources. These agents, visualized as nodes within the light arrays, are accompanied by speaker arrays that allow them to express themselves through light and sound. The installation acts as a spatial instrument in which neither light nor sound acts as the origin of the behavior that is being created. For my last work of my master's degree in Museology New Media and Muaeum Communication I have decided to create a virtual exhibition. The goal is to create, or at least try to create, given the rudimentary means I have had, a sensory experience through sounds for the visitor to reflect on the increase of war violence on the international scene and the abandonment of diplomatic channels. Hence, the name of the exhibition: Echoes of a society at war: An exhibition on the sounds of today's conflicts. Thus, the exhibition has nine panels, five of which have a moving video in sound. These sounds are intended to enhance the value of the images. Some of them are already strong, but by including sound they acquire a higher qualitative value.
