Each year, Wawa, Inc. teams up with the USO and local members of the Air and Army National Guard for the annual tradition known as Operation Taste of Home, where together, they assemble care packages. This year, as #VeteransDay approaches, this annual tradition continues as Wawa associates, members of the Wawa Veterans’ Alliance and members of the USO and Pennsylvania National Guard plan to assemble more than 10,000 care packages that will be sent to service members stationed abroad. The Wawa Foundation will also be presenting the USO with a check for over a million dollars raised through customer donations! These campaigns make it easy for customers to donate and show that even small amounts can make a big difference — often totaling millions of dollars. Yes, believe it or not, that small change you donate as you make your purchase can actually make a huge difference in the lives of American service members, military spouses and military children. #TheUSO’s corporate partnerships help to fund major USO programs that support service members and their families — programs that keep them connected while they are stationed or deployed anywhere in the world.

Since 2014, the Come Back Alive Foundation, dedicated to competent assistance to the army, has raised more than 11 billion hryvnias, or about 341 million dollars. In 2022, it also became the first Ukrainian charity foundation licensed to purchase military and dual-use goods. Christmas is a special time for many, a time for friends and family. But for all too many people, Christmas can be a difficult time, a time where isolation and loneliness can be amplified. On leaving the Armed Forces, many find the transition to civy street a difficult time. It can be a lonely time trying to forge a new life outside of the Armed Forces family - even more so when your time in the Armed Forces is cut short due to injury, illness and deeper battles. This is why support pathways for Veterans are so important. As well as receiving the support and guidance needed, they can then link in with the SWV Veteran Support Network, so that loneliness and isolation is less of a problem. ✨TREND 4/12 Involvement in #charity and #volunteering is growing steadily. #Ukrainians direct most of their support to the Armed Forces of #Ukraine. Over the past year, the number of people who help through volunteering, defense activities and support of the frontline has doubled. This growth is due to those who wanted to join in - the results of Gradus Research showed that the number of those who only intended to join in but did not do so decreased compared to last year. Military purposes have become the top charitable donations, with almost two-thirds of Ukrainians donating to them. Such a significant level of involvement in supporting the Armed Forces once again confirms the high level of trust in them.
