Renewable projects represent a crucial solution in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, offering tangible pathways toward sustainability. To ensure accurate accounting and methodologies for calculating these emissions reductions, #ENGIE has collaborated with ENGIE Impact to develop a well-defined methodology called Declic. This rigorous approach ensures that the avoided emissions from our renewable projects are accurately measured and accounted for, reinforcing our commitment to transparency and accountability in combating #climatechange. 💰 Different 'carbon prices' (set by governing bodies) will be needed for different clean energy technologies, to incentivise their adoption. This is because of the varying costs of those renewable energy technologies. ☁ E.g. because Hydrogen will be one of the most expensive technologies to adopt (infrastructure costs are relatively high and end-use efficiency relatively low), governments must set the highest CO2 price to make it feasible. 💚 CRU has a Sustainability & Emissions Service available, which comprehensively connects the dots of emissions trends, policies, carbon prices, and clean energy technology markets.
In a world where #sustainability has become a priority, the #carbonprice incentive emerges as a key tool to encourage the adoption of cleaner and more efficient technologies. This economic approach not only motivates companies and individuals to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions but also channels investments towards renewable energy alternatives. At CRU we have a team who specialise in this, there was a recent webinar on this, here you can see the recorded session: https://lnkd.in/dhCnvNd8

Hugely important to get the basics right when planning development. Early integration of biodiversity in decision-making is so much more effective than trying (and failing) to bolt it on further down the line. Even more important when the whole point of the renewables sector is to reduce impacts on climate and nature
Technical Director Claire Fletcher will be joining Rachel Asante-Owusu to talk about IUCN's Renewables Project, on December 9 at #COP28. We're now in the 2nd phase of this project to help the renewables sector ensure that biodiversity doesn't suffer in the vital transition to clean energy. The guidance document produced in phase 1 can be found in the comment section. #CleanEnergy #EnergyTransition #RenewableEnergy
