🚛 Active Lane Change Assist for commercial vehicles can make a significant contribution to highway safety. ZF led the pioneering research project Highways Assist with Lane Change (HALC), which has been researching and developing the technology for the past three years. 🔍 Let's take a closer look at how this system works: • Lane Keeping Assist works when driving in the same lane. The distance with the vehicle in front is continuously monitored. If the vehicle in front slows down, the system automatically reduces speed. • Lane Change Assist works when attempting to change lanes. The system monitors the driver's head movements, ensuring awareness during the lane change manoeuvre. Radars on both sides of the truck check that the target lane is not blocked. 🛣️ Only when these conditions are met and the turn signal is activated will the system initiate an automatic lane-change manoeuvre. However, the driver can take control at any time if necessary. 🌐 The project takes the research on highway safety technology to a new level. We expect that new series products can be developed based on the research results. #HighwaySafety #LaneChangeAssist #RoadSafety #SafetyFirst #Safety #Trucks #Innovation #ZF #CommercialVehicles #Technology 🚚✨

An automatic emergency braking (AEB) system uses multiple sensor technologies and subsystems that work together to sense when a truck is in a crash-imminent situation and automatically applies the vehicle brakes if the driver has not done so, or automatically applies more braking force to supplement the driver’s applied braking. In this episode of Truck Talk with Bendix, Fred Andersky joins Denise Rondini to explain AEB technology and discuss proposed regulation which would require automatic emergency braking on heavy vehicles in the U.S. https://lnkd.in/gMXVsQrW

Traffic safety is not just one organization's responsbility. If you are familiar with ADAS Incidents Reports, you may notice that semi-trailer truck is one of the most common factors involved in ADAS incidents. Especially when the trailer is carrying a not-so-common construction equipment. However, in Sweden, this #edgecase is avoided by having a “normal” van following the semi-trailer truck. Thus, “detecting of special vehicles and correctly estimating the distance” on the public roads in Sweden became “detecting a yellow van and estimating the distance”, which is easier and simpler. This demonstrates how safe AD should be done. #visionzero

AIRMATIC, namely the air suspension technology, was introduced by Mercedes-Benz in 1998. The air suspension system includes air springs, shock absorbers, guiding mechanisms and body height control systems. Its principle is to utilize the increasing rigidity of the confined gas in the air spring when compressed, that is, as the air spring is continuously compressed, its stiffness gradually increases. Meanwhile, the internal gas is compressed or discharged as the air spring is compressed or elongated, resulting in the air suspension system having nearly ideal dynamic elastic characteristics. The greatest advantage of AIRMATIC is that it can not only improve the ride comfort of occupants but also protect the road. #airsuspension #spareparts #autoparts#Airbags#MERCEDES-BENZ

An essential prerequisite for all by-wire systems is intrinsic safety: The steering system and the brake in the passenger car must never fail; the vehicle must remain controllable even if some part of the electronics fails. Since by-wire systems have no mechanical connection to the driver as the ultimate fallback position, the electronic control units must be designed redundantly, i.e., duplicated in the vehicle together with their control electronics. Check out detailed impressions of steer-by-wire as experienced firsthand with ZF's experts 👉 https://spr.ly/6043wqxTb #ZFNow #NextGenMobility #chassis #bywire
