CVS Health and Aetna colleagues were thrilled to support Broward County 8th grade students in early June. Students were able to learn about careers and financial literacy while visiting our very own CVS storefront. 14 volunteers helped guide students through the CVS Health journey in our dedicated storefront providing students with valuable insights into the healthcare ecosystem. Students navigated through various stations, including an Aetna station, a pharmacy visit, and a MinuteClinic stop to discover the range of available access-to-care options. #TeamCVS

Creating healthier communities and overcoming complex societal concerns requires collaborative solutions that bring communities and institutions together as equal partners to build upon their assets, strengths, and capacities. As a provider, you can use this resource created by @Community-Campus Partnerships for Health and the RADx-UP Black/African American Working Group as a training tool to increase awareness and support improved patient-provider relationships for better health outcomes. This can also serve as a guide when developing workplace policies and educational tools for medical students, providers, hospital administrators, and other staff. On patient education We need to teach our people that they are at liberty to seek help from a higher health institution when their problem is not being solved. I Had a case where one patient was continually going to their local health centre for a chronic headache. Patient would be given some painkillers and sent home. Except that the headache would come back. This continued for two weeks until our patient finally came in to our facility with signs of a stroke. So I sat there and asked our patient if they knew that they were at liberty to seek help from a higher institution when the problem was not being addressed - the answer was no. Two other similar scenarios came in on that day. Usually patients will say that they do not have the money to pay whatever fees that will come as a result of them coming directly without a referral. However the end result is even more costly than the initial amount they would have had to pay. We have to unfortunately teach our community to weigh the risks vs the cost. Because now our patient has a long and costly recovery process ahead. Which many of us in the health circles know patients fail to follow through with. In as much as health education should be addressed by healthcare professionals, I believe everyone in the community should get involved in letting those less likely to know about such information know that they are free to escalate should they feel the need to #PublicHealth #CommunityAwareness #PatientEducation #Ubuntu

Healthcare Leader & Practice Partner: Specialising in Strategic Primary Care Consulting and Service Design
How our patients help us help them Simple: Patient Participation Groups! (PPGs) What is a PPG you may ask? A PPG is a group of patients, careers and GP practice staff who meet to discuss practice issues and experience to improve the practice’s service. Why do we do this? 🤝 To give patients and practice staff the chance to meet and discuss practice issues outside the appointment times 🗣️ A way to get patients more involved and give them a platform to make suggestions to improve their healthcare services 🗓️ To address complaints and contribute to action plans 📈 To help monitor changes and improvements 🇬🇧 To help the national effort on National Patient Survey and Friends and Family Test ❤️🩹 To support health awareness and patient education What does our PPG look like? An ideal PPG would be as representative as possible of the practice patient population. It should reach as far as possible, and communities from all walks of life, from different ethnicities, genders, ages and disabilities should be encouraged to join. How has my practice responded to matters recently discussed in our groups? We value the feedback of all patients very dearly. In response to their concerns we: 👉 extended our working hours on particular days to be able to see more patients 👉 have planned how we can better support our local immigrant communities Does your practice support PPGs? How have they supplemented your practice? What have you improved from them? Let me know in the comments! #GP #primarycare #Elmtree #patientparticipationgroups

I will help you launch and transition to your new private practice. I also tackle pain points in your operations, systems and processes in your current private medical practice | YA Author | Triathlete | Runner
NBC news report last night on Nightly News with Lester Holt reported the following about the shortage of #PrimaryCarePhysicians (PCP): - It takes 10 years to educate a physician. (Med school 4 years, residency, 3 years, fellowship or on the job training) - PCP shortage- > number of docs in training can't keep up with the aging population. - A patient who was interviewed said her doctor went to a #Concierge practice charging $10k a year. This is NOT the case in the Chicago area. Membership is less than $4k a year - around $300/mo. You can look at it as it's a gym membership or another utility bill. #privatepractice #dpc Solution - increase training slots and help with the average $200k in debt physicians obtain going through schooling and training. With the information and expectations we have for Primary Care Physicians, our healthcare systems need to place more value and autonomy on them.

Despite bipartisan support in Congress, the Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education program will run out of funds at the end of 2024, this new KFF article reminds us. And yet the evidence is clear: Compared to traditional, hospital-based residencies, residents trained at Community Health Centers -- as with the Teaching Health Center program -- are twice as likely to pursue employment at a safety-net provider and three times more likely to practice in underserved communities. Support for training in a community-based setting, like the Teaching Health Center program, must be part of the solution to the primary care workforce crisis. https://lnkd.in/dHiTDDPA #PrimaryCareGap #HealthWorkforce #ValueCHCs THCGME

Healthcare For Action was formed around the idea that Congress will function better with more healthcare and healthcare adjacent professionals because they know how to collaborate, reach across the aisle and get things done with people who think differently than they do. These doctors, nurses, and EMTs are treating patients every day, many of whom are dealing with issues beyond just their health. They know that there are so many factors that play into a healthy life, factors that frankly this Congress is not addressing—the opportunity gap, food insecurity and education just to name a few. Each Friday in this space we’re going to take a look at these issues on an individual basis and drill down on the reasons why medical professionals are well positioned to handle such issues as legislators. If you like what you read here, please like and share, and of course, let us know what you think in the comments. #health #justice #democracy #politics

Mobile health clinics serve an important role in the healthcare system, providing care for some of the most vulnerable populations. They can improve access by being a vital link between the community and healthcare clinical services. Community Health uses both medical and dental mobile clinics to provide access to our most vulnerable people. They help underserved communities overcome barriers to accessing healthcare including time, location and trust, and have shown improvements in health outcomes and reduction costs. How people receive healthcare in the country has changed a lot over the last decade. As the healthcare system continues to evolve, it is important to understand and appreciate the role of mobile health providers. During the summer, Community Health’s mobile clinic provided back-to-school physicals and shots for more than 70 children residing on Area Housing Commission campuses. At least once a week, the mobile dental clinic visits an Escambia County school to provide dental checkups for students. Our mobile health units remove the need for patients to travel to a clinic, bringing the clinic to them instead. It’s a win-win situation for all involved in the transmission of services to those who need it most. When it comes to healthcare and serving our community, it’s good to see that Community Health Northwest Florida mobile clinics are on the road again! learn more: https://lnkd.in/dGwaiqrw #mobilehealthcare #healthcare #mobilemedical #dentalcare #pensacola #escambiacounty
