Incredible to see how AI improves the access to legal information. Lawpath just announced that its LegalAI solution has provided over 260,000 legal insights since launching a few months ago. I do not think LegalAI necessarily means less work for lawyers, I think it just means more information into the hands of non-lawyers, so they can understand their rights and obligations better. In fact it may mean more work for lawyers as more people get to understand their legal options. I know one consumer-facing company that used to get a couple of dozen complaints each week - all of them a few paragraphs long. The messaging was the same - “your product is not good” in some way. Now that company gets significantly more complaints and they are 5+ pages of well crafted legal argument. All generated by ChatGPT (or similar). This now creates more work for the in-house legal team. How to solve the increase in work for the already over-worked in-house team? LegalAI !!!! It now covers ten jurisdictions, including the UK, EU, USA, and added regions like Canada and India. CompetitionAI utilizes the advanced GPT-4 model to ensure accurate and efficient legal research. A perfect example of how technology can be an enabler, rather than “take away jobs.” Why am I talking about this? Well, by now you probably have an idea. This is innovation at its best—a shining example of how technology can empower rather than replace us, tailored specifically for the complexities of competition law. In my experience as an Innovator, I've encountered resistance to change more times than I can count, especially from senior partners within law firms. When faced with too many options and high implementation costs, some may avoid adopting legal tech until the market consolidates. But here is a story of someone working within the traditional fabric of a law firm who sparked innovation from the inside. Now, imagine the possibilities if more lawyers and law firm leaders invested in such simple innovation.
