"In the realm of near space, our limited presence isn't due to a lack of desire, but rather a deficiency in our technological prowess. Furthermore, for advancements in military technology to flourish in these domains, they must be anchored in civil applications, underpinned by sound regulatory frameworks." @Air Marshal G S Bedi AVSM, VM, VSM (Retd) Former DG (FIS), Distinguished Fellow at Centre for Air Power Studies have set the stage for the session named "Redefining Aerospace- Near Space and Space Sovereignty". The discussion on "Near Space" is only done at DefSAT Conference & Expo Stay tuned to learn more!! #DefSAT2024

Space Force General Explains How U.S. Satellites Detect Missile Launches Military space capabilities are critical for U.S. troops in the Middle East and around the world, and that includes a constellation of satellites that can detect missile launches using infrared sensors. The U.S. has credited the system, known as SBIRS, for saving American lives at bases in the Middle East in the past, and experts say it’s likely proving to be a critical technology today, as Iran-backed forces launch a barrage of attacks against American service members in the region. WSJ’s Shelby Holliday sat down with Gen. B. Chance Saltzman, U.S. Space Force’s Chief of Space Operations, to learn more about how the satellite technology works, and the importance of improving it as hostile nations race to counter U.S. space capabilities.

this article describes very well how the Amerindian military will have to integrate with space technologies. European states must support such integration in order to properly extend maximum security conditions to the entire NATO area. Space economy is a top priority, new investments are needed! https://lnkd.in/dZSDjaZ4

Analysis 101: Spotting patterns in a sea of data Looking at some recent SpaceNews articles, we see: 1) Northrop Grumman’s orbital refueling port selected for U.S. military satellites 2) U.S. Space Force wary of China’s expanding spy satellite fleet 3) Satellite-services industry awaits critical demand signal from U.S. military Notice it? Military customers want the ability to refuel, to respond to Chinese fleet movement, and extend/expand operational capabilities. All of this supports the development of in-orbit services to serve govmil customers. While working on NSR/Analysys Mason's newest In-Orbit Services report (see link below), we kept hearing about the US military wanting to "maneuver without regret", wanting satellites to be refuelled so that each movement wasn't limiting operations and lifetime. But, as we can see just from the articles above, the pricing, technology, standards, none are ready yet, none are in place to serve this market. So, how do you think the next 10 years will turn out? Keep an eye out for our latest forecast. #Satellite #IOS #NSRInsights NSR, an Analysys Mason company Analysys Mason Links 1) https://lnkd.in/dFSYG_4v 2) https://lnkd.in/dZ5GMdnh 3) https://lnkd.in/dF7p5t4V 4) https://lnkd.in/dX9P3Ypz

At NATO -Innovation significantly impacts defense strategies by accelerating the pace of technological advancements, enhancing the effectiveness of defense operations, and ensuring that military capabilities remain dynamic and robust. It fosters closer commercial-public partnerships, crucial for securing innovation speed, cost-effectiveness, scale, and resilience, thereby complementing government programs for space defense and multidomain operations.

Some reflections from the 1st ever NATO Space Symposium in Toulouse April 29-30: 1. The importance of the space domain for modern defence is growing. Space already is and will incresingly be become an integral part of NATO's multi-domain operations. 2. The innovation pace in the commercial & dual use sector is many areas outpacing the innovation of government and military Space programs. This trend will likely further accelerate. 2. Closer commercial-public partnerships are key to secure innovation speed, cost effectiveness , scale & resilience - and will be an increasingly important complement government programs for Space defense #space #spaceIQ #nato #mdo #situationalawareness #isr #protectingdemocracy #dualuse #innovation #speed #efficiency #resilience #workingtogether #iceye

tactical data link expert openness to all innovations in the domain of data sharing and especially tactical data links
a topic to follow
The Space Development Agency (SDA) is proud to announce we’ve achieved another major testing milestone for the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (#PWSA) by successfully demonstrating the first-ever Link 16 network entry from Tranche 0 satellites in low-Earth orbit to a US Navy ship operating in international waters. SDA’s Warfighter Integration Cell conducted a series of successful Link 16 tests over a two-day period with a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier operating in international waters. This recent milestone follows SDA’s successful Link 16 test last November demonstrating the first-ever Link 16 space-to-ground connection from low-Earth orbit (LEO) to a series of terrestrial radios. Link 16 is a tactical datalink communication system used by the United States, NATO, and coalition forces to transmit and exchange real-time situational awareness data among all network participants. Expanding operations to space is necessary to ensure the Combatant Commands have the resources necessary to support operations. #SemperCitius #Satellites #Space #Defense #Army #Navy #Marines #AirForce #SpaceForce #Link16
