Josef de Pfeiffer, appreciate you highlighting the unmatched results that we have seen with Atreon Orthopedics Rotium. The Rotium works where healing occurs in rotator cuff repairs, between the tendon and the bone. The results achieved in their sheep study has not been reproduced to my knowledge. 34% increase in the strength of a rotator cuff repair at 6 weeks and a 74% increase in the strength of a rotator cuff repair at 12 weeks, in sheep that has their rotator cuff’s repaired with Rotium vs. those repaired without. Histologically the re-establishment of Sharpey Fibers attaching the tendon to the bone is believed to be the reason for the stronger repair. Brian Badman has “reproduced”these results in patients with a 7% retear rate in patients with rotator cuffs repaired with Rotium vs. a 50% retear rate in patients with rotator cuffs repaired without. The purpose of this study was to compare tensile fatigue and strength measures of biocomposite and all-suture anchors in an ovine humerus-infraspinatus tendon model of rotator cuff repair. By evaluating the performance of these anchors, researchers aim to enhance the success rates and durability of rotator cuff surgeries.
