Yesterday was Day 1 of the KR Learning and Development Conference and it was simply invigorating connecting with dedicated and invested Learning colleagues again! It was a great priveledge to Chair yesterday🎉 The speakers were all simply brilliant! 😍I will share some takeaways and insights soon. But in the meantime… here are some thoughts I uncovered through the day: 💫 Maintaining our curiosity in the industry, whilst we experience rapid change is vital for our adaptation and growth to support business. When we remain open to others and solutions - we embody agility and adaptability therefore allowing us to remain connected to solutions that are business relevant. 💫Whilst we have become more virtual in business, remaining connected to business operations and leaders is more important than ever before. The relational value supercedes our learning strategy always. This allows us to keep our ear to the ground to understand the needs of the organization and people while they navigate change rapidly. Being too rigid with planning might hurt the business rather than add value 💫Working with AI and emerging technology as L&D professionals is crucial to further enhance our impact on the workforce. Staying ahead of the curve as tech evolves is not a luxury anymore, but central to the size and quality of the sphere of our influence 💫Remembering that no matter how tough times can get, we remain true to the mission of serving business through the most important asset: THE PEOPLE Knowledge Resources

Nick van Dam: Insights and Practical Guidance from the Field is the ideal resource for professionals seeking to hone their organization’s learning and development efforts. The ACADEMIES framework is still a useful tool for conceptualizing learning strategy. Three of the nine components are still very topical these days: 1. Align with business strategy  2. Assess capability gaps and estimate value 3. Measure impact on business My believe is that these 3 components are critical for transforming into a skills-driven organization, but my experience is that these elements are still lacking in the many great initiatives that I witness.
