🏆 Awards news 🏆 This year Greg Macoy was nominated for a Commercial Leader Award by the Finance Director of the Year Award team. These awards are made possible by generous, engaged sponsors including Brabners, HSBC and KPMG. We're so honoured to have been nominated, even if it came at a challenging time for us as a business. Seeing award nominations pop up in your feed can feel frustrating and lonely for those who haven't been nominated. It's so easy to see them and think "Christ, how have they done that? We're struggling to stay afloat here." I wanted to post two honest thoughts about this award: 1) First and foremost, we're very humbled to be recognized for this award, particularly by local branches of big, global brands. All our hard work raising our profile for the last five years has paid off. This manifests in unusual ways sometimes, including this award nomination. 2) Equally, this year has been very tough for us as a business. It has included our worst-performing quarter since we began and lots of stress and heartache behind the scenes. To be nominated for a Commercial Leader Award made both Greg and I feel like frauds - regardless of the hard work we've put in. Ultimately, we had to remind ourselves that being a Commercial Leader is more than money - it's everything that makes our company commercially successful, and we've achieved this in many other areas, even if sales have been especially tough this year. We consider our big commercial successes to be: - Our close, purposeful network - Firestarters - Our way of working - Our improved processes - Our point of difference as a B Corp I wanted to post this to be candid about what it feels like to get these awards and what it means to receive nominations when times are really tough. Thank you to those who put us forward - its timing was an impeccable pick-up. If you've been struggling this year, we've been right there with you. Let's get to Christmas and have a big sleep.
