The Net Zero Industry Regulation aims to ease the conditions for investing in green technologies by simplifying approval procedures and supporting strategic projects. US-based CarbonCapture Inc. secures a substantial $80 million Series A financing round led by Prime Movers Lab, with participation from notable investors such as Amazon’s Climate Pledge Fund, Aramco Ventures, and Siemens Financial Services. Direct air capture (DAC) technology, employed by CarbonCapture, directly captures CO2 from the atmosphere, aiding in achieving Net Zero and potentially net negative greenhouse gas emissions. I am thrilled to share my recent experience attending the ACP Siting and Permitting Conference 2024, where I had the privilege of presenting a poster on Sustainability in Green Hydrogen Project Development. During the poster session, I engaged with developers growing nascent green hydrogen teams and public outreach experts to refine my own understanding of the state of the market and how to engage successfully with stakeholders. We delved into the latest advancements, challenges, and policy frameworks surrounding green hydrogen and stakeholder engagement. The discussions were invigorating, and I left with fresh insights and a renewed commitment to driving positive change. Typical questions around safety, concerns about aesthetics. Explosion Risk, Complacency Risk, Leak Interventions Risk, the corrosion rate and the accumulated amortization rate of system components is too fast to warrant many capital projects. Straining water resources, “eye sores” from renewables, using grid power in areas with dirty grids.   From your perspective, what sustainability factors should be prioritized in the development of green hydrogen projects? Top Responses: Efficient use of energy and of water sources, minimizing loss during transportation. Water resource management. Energy Storage Density, Dispatchability. Air quality, water use, renewable energy use. What are your thoughts on these responses? Anything to add?

The Government’s continuing commitment to advancing carbon capture, though the Green Industries Growth Accelerator, was a welcome feature of this week's Autumn Statement. Encyclis Chief Executive Owen Michaelson said: "We know that the addition of carbon capture to some of the UK’s most important infrastructure is crucial to achieving net zero. "That’s why Encyclis is working in partnership with the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) to develop the first energy recovery facility in the UK with commercial scale carbon capture, at Protos ERF, in Cheshire.
