Just watched Gabrielle Bernstein's enlightening talk on "The Universe Has Your Back" and I'm buzzing with insights! Here are my top 5 takeaways that I believe can benefit us all: 1. Take your hands off the wheel: Let go of preconceived notions of what you think you need and trust in the universe's plan for you. 2. Focus on what's thriving: Redirect your energy towards nurturing personal and business growth, focusing on what's already flourishing. 3. Obstacles are detours in the right direction: Embrace setbacks as opportunities for redirection. Sometimes hitting rock bottom can be the catalyst for profound transformation. 4. Ask for a sign: Don't hesitate to seek guidance from the universe. When we're open and receptive, the signs we seek will manifest. 5. Surrender, then surrender more: True surrender involves releasing control and trusting in the process wholeheartedly. Embrace uncertainty with faith rather than anxiety. SURVIVE VS. THRIVE Why be good when you can be great? There’s a few foundational lessons I hold close and this is one. To share the importance or gravity to this belief - know that I used this throughout raising my two kids. They BTW are living proof of its validity. At 28 and 30 my son is with the Dodgers and daughter with Disney. Both living their dreams, both great. The difference between good and great is this much (I’m holding my forefinger and thumb so close together you can barely see light. > Folks It’s one more ‘burst’ in sports. > One more hour of homework scholastically. > It’s purposely watching every other employee leave before you. Today was one of those days where you get energy from people you work with 🤗 the Dream Team Caron Williams, Dr Ffion Prothero and I spend most of the day doing brainstorming on 'what next' and get our house in order after a busy few weeks. I've come away feeling great! On my drive home I reflected on what made the day feel good: 🥸 Curiousity: we are genuinely interested in each other's contributions and views 😃Listening: we don't interrupt one one another and take the time to listen with purpose (unless we get so excited about an idea we talk all over each other!) 🌈 Open minded: we encourage each other to think further and build on ideas 🥳 Fun: we had quite a few moments of hilarity! 🤝Connection: we booked a meeting room for the day, connected in person (and shared some jammie dodgers 🍪) 👊Shared ambition: we share a deep passion for our programme and believe in its vision and ambition 🫶Value: we truly value each other's experience, skills and knowledge and want to learn from one another #teamworkmakesthedreamwork

Are you aware of your 'lightsaber moments'? 🥷🏻   As a Star Wars (and Chelsea fan), you can see why this clip caught my attention! https://lnkd.in/eg2kRKJA Emma Hayes, Chelsea women's (rather brilliant) team manager, talks about how the messages conveyed throughout Star Wars are "essential in life". As a father myself, I loved hearing how her young son uses these Jedi references – no doubt learning valuable lessons along the way!   Metaphors – and stories more broadly – provide tangible, relatable, and memorable reference points. My own children often make Star Wars references too – being "a bit more Yoda" and asking "what would Luke do?" are two of my personal favourites!   And there's definitely some valuable parallels in our professional lives as well…   In fact, I had a lot of fun developing our Star Wars-themed #strategic leadership quiz for this very reason!
