But, as we journey towards making those dreams a reality, are we grateful for the little things which we currently possess? Some of us may not yet be in our dream jobs, but should that hinder our dedication and positivity at work? It's disheartening to witness the prevalence of the "I cannot come and kill myself" mentality in our workplaces. Taking a moment today to celebrate my topmate.io journey 🚀 It's been an incredible ride filled with growth, learning, and most importantly, the opportunity to make a positive impact in people's lives. 🌱 To everyone who's been a part of this journey, whether through collaboration, learning, or simply being a supportive presence, I extend my heartfelt gratitude. 🙏 Your encouragement and enthusiasm have been the fuel that kept me going. 💪 I remember the one data career consulting session I had with Emmanuel Nnadi He was had questions about what was required to make the transition into the data analytics space I shared with him anecdotes from my own personal experiencing transitioning from a warehouse worker to data analytics. One thing that stood out to him from his testimonial is having clarity to know what is required to bridge the knowledge gap as opposed to just doing trial and error He also shared that one major take away was the importance of personal branding and how felt empowered to build his own personal brand. Fast forward a couple of months down the line and Emmanuel was able to take a step closer to his data career goals as he joined RBC as Corporate Actions Officer One major lesson from our discussion was to follow unconventional methods in an unconventional job market Though he hasn't achieved his goal yet he feels he is making progress as he is more exposed to data analytics tasks at his new role at a company that support his career goals. Here's to embracing every milestone, big or small, and to the countless more adventures ahead! Here's to impacting many more lives through giving back to the community

I participated in the Career Timeline challenge organised by James Compton last week, which allowed me to comprehensively evaluate my career and gain insight into my motivations. Initially, I had the opportunity to connect with fellow Business analysts who shared similar interests and perspectives from various parts of the globe. This experience prompted me to contemplate my career accomplishments and the significant influence my past experiences have had on shaping my present self. Some key takeaways for me - 1. Failure is a part of success. It is a stepping stone and not a stumbling roadblock. 2. Focus on what you can control and make measurable progress. 3. Be Grateful for where you are at - Most of the time you forget that these were the things that you once prayed for. 4. Perspective is a matter of choice - Life will always have its ups and downs. 5. Think Big and Do your best - Life is short to be self-imposed with fears and limitations. I want to express my gratitude to James Compton for both helping me recognize and providing support throughout this journey.

Food For Thought: As the year draws to a close, it's an opportunity to take stock of all the events that have taken place and how they have impacted us. This is a time for self-reflection, a time to contemplate the ups and downs, the highs and lows of the year that has passed. It's a chance to think about the goals we have achieved, the challenges we have overcome, and the lessons we have learned. Perhaps this year has been exceptionally significant for you, filled with moments of great joy and happiness, or maybe it has been a year of loss and hardship. Regardless of the kind of year you have had, it is worthwhile to reflect on it and think about how it has shaped you. By taking the time to reflect, we can gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and our place in the world. We can look back on the decisions we have made, the relationships we have formed, and our experiences and use this knowledge to guide us as we move forward into the new year. So, let's take a moment to reflect, to be grateful for the good things that have come our way, and to learn from the challenges we have faced. Dr. C.

My first post on the linkedin... A lot of the posts I see here from the company I worked with (in IT) for 37+ years before retiring celebrate "diversity" as a "strength". This thinking infested the place the last half dozen years I worked there, to the company's detriment in my estimation. I'll explain why. In my experience, things worked best when the best **ideas** won. The diversity is not the strength; the **excellence** is the strength. Diversity can be a temporary condition to eventually get to excellence. Because if one has bad poisoned food, and good food, the good food is going to win out, or should. It's not the diversity of food, it's the **competition** of it. Also in my experience, "diversity" of ideas didn't get things done. Things got done when everyone was on the same page, striving towards a *common* goal, regardless of one's irrelevant external traits such as gender, age, pigmentation, or any other arbitrary trait one decides to define someone by that has nothing to do with the job at hand or one's ability to do it. I was fortunate to always have bosses I had a deep respect for & could never outwork. They also always allowed me to have my input, and sought it out & valued it. They considered my input, then made decisions as to how to proceed. Most often I agreed with those decisions; often my input helped to steer those decisions. But sometimes, I didn't agree. But that was *irrelevant* to the task at hand. Once the decision was made, it was my job to execute it, and implement it to the best of my ability, in the most efficient way possible. And sometimes my bosses saw the "big picture" better than I did, and explained to me why things were done a certain way, which is something I learned from & am grateful for, and it made me a better & more inquisitive member of the IT team. I'm grateful for my time there, for my wonderful career that has allowed me to feed my family & retire well. I'm especially grateful for my managers & the talented teams I worked with for many years, a couple of generations worth! But if "diversity", based on arbitrary irrelevant external human traits (that one can't control!) continues to be the stated goal & purpose, rather than *excellence*, the place I worked at is going to have a slow drain over the next generation. I sincerely hope they wake up and recognize this, and recognize the real reasons that contributed to the company's success over the past four decades. Enjoying retirement to the max!!
