There has to be a better way to do this. And I'm going to figure out what it is. ☝☝☝ That's the mindset that's led me to build every business I've started. Most people don't think enough about how to solve the biggest issues we're facing right now. And that's a problem. Because if no one's questioning the status quo, things like Climate change The housing crisis Economic inequity Are never going to change. The B-Team was born out of looking for a better way to do things. Now it's just celebrated its 10 year anniversary. And the leaders in the B-Team are still using their influence to work toward sustainable business practices every day. After the B-Team, I founded Aera VC so I could invest in companies that are creating tangible solutions to help reverse climate change. And now Aera is working to address the fact that so many Kiwis are locked out the housing market. Instead of just accepting the system as it is, we're questioning it. Creating a creative solution rather than just sitting back. Our Deposit Accelerator product is already helping hundreds of Kiwis save up a deposit faster. Because I'm not one for sitting on the sidelines when there's a problem. It's just not in my nature.

Well, success was achieved today people. Invited today by the Blackbird VC crew to be the last AMA speaker for their Giants program, to do the storytelling thing with a bunch of founders attending. Demystification of the Tractor funding process, achieved once again. Tick tick. No doubt, highlighting that Tractor Ventures and BB co-exist in many ways along the capital stack is an important part of what we're doing here. It's not VC or Tractor, for example. The two go hand-in-hand and we're not antagonists, or opposites, or competitors, or 'only for lifestyle businesses' or any other narrative pushed out into the ether or assumed to be correct. We fund companies that have revenue and runway and operate efficiently and are heading towards profitability. As plenty of VCs do too. (We both love our B2B SaaS at the moment for example.) Often, companies will take our funding and hitch a rocket to the side of their tractor. And sometimes they'll continue on their merry way all the way to the fundraising factory, where they will board a rocketship and ping into the stratosphere. Will I be invited back to other Giants programs in the future, after storytelling with as much transparency and honesty as I could possibly muster before I head to the Smart Company Awards tonight where we might possibly win something based on our own company performance and I'm not sure whether I'm meant to be talking about that prior to attending?
