When it comes to entering Business Awards, many businesses fall prey to the fallacy that they’re not up to scratch. They believe their achievements, while commendable, simply aren’t award-worthy, overshadowed by seemingly more impressive competitors. This, however, is more often than not a misconception. In our experience, most businesses underestimate their achievements, not the other way around. Reflecting on recent experiences, I have come to appreciate the profound belief that 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻. In the midst of a period where my academic and spiritual pursuits thrived, a sudden disruption unsettled my 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆, leaving me grappling for a foothold. However, amidst the uncertainty, my unwavering faith in a higher power provided solace, guiding me through challenges, and reinforcing the invaluable lesson of patience. The discipline of chartered accountancy emphasizes the virtue of patience, a principle that I have wholeheartedly embraced during this time. It has been a vital reminder to 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲, and 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 in the face of adversity. The unanimous answer was, “no, it makes zero difference”. But that wasn’t enough to convince some people that awards aren’t rigged.
