The person who motivated me to get in shape was no Instagram model or a fitness trainer. It was my dad. Up until his 40's he used to neglect his body until one day he said "enough is enough". He started going to the gym at 6am every day without fail. I saw him do this for 2 years and get his body into great shape until I decided to join him. He never told me to workout or to eat well. I followed his lead because he was my first example of what good health should look like. If your children adopted your habits would you be proud or scared? The fact is our kids won't do what we say. They'll do what they see. ✍🏼 Agree or disagree? ♻️ Reshare if this was helpful. - Dan Ps. If you liked this post you'll enjoy my newsletter. Kids learn by watching, not just by being told what to do. My dad is truly an inspiration to me. Dads never give up. Dads make sacrifices. I often talk to my dad about his health, but it feels like he doesn't listen to me about it, which is tough. In other areas of life, though, he's like a guru. My mentor, guide, and inspiration. He makes me want to be a dad someday. Haha.

Bro! Speak the gospel! I hate running, but I run. Things hurt, but I lift. I take my kids to the beach, I get in the water and feel great! I take my kids hiking, we climb things, and of course it feels great! I get involved in what my kids are doing and lead by example. I can see the difference in how they act around their friends. They do more, go faster and farther, and I love it. They don't need people to give them limits. They need us to show them the limits don't really exist.

So true man! Majority of the bad habits kids adopt are because they've seen someone else do it. Like you said, they do what they SEE, not what you tell them to do. It's way too soon for me, but I've decided that if and when I do have kids, I'll make it a point to DO everything myself, and lead by example rather than just tell them to read more books and watch T.V. all day myself 😂

Absolutely! As I grow both personally and professionally, I've come to realize that loving my kids means prioritizing my own health and well-being. Staying fit and healthy isn't just about feeling good; it's the best investment I can make for myself and my children. It safeguards our future by reducing medical expenses 😅 😂 and ensuring I can be there for them in the best way possible 💖

This a bit harsh and it's probably the first post of you I'm a bit sensitive to because: put yourself in diferent situations and locations... from mothers fighting the adrenaline rush of domestic violence and trying to feed themselves and their kids to immigrants new here not being able to decide what to eat... I love your posts but I'm passing it eyes on this heavily because is giving me a bit our of touch vibes. I suggest a disclaimer. Ok.. I just needed to say that, sensitive is gone and i calmed down ..I know you gave the best intentions.

"Somewhere, someone is practicing harder than you. And when you meet them, you will lose." All growing up, my dad woke up at 5am and hit the weights in our basement wearing an old raggy AND1 shirt that said this on the back. It's burned into my mind. And it's inspiring.

My dad as well. 😊💕 he use to take me to all these morning walks, and teach me physics all the way.. and he is the first one to notice if I gained inches or lost a few… and i resonate with the feeling … I am trying to be a healthy person for myself and my children

Extremely insightful! The same is often true of education. If you model the importance of education, your littles grow up placing value on learning and growing intellectually. It doesn't even have to be formal! But we do get a high number of clients who cite "setting an example for my kids" as their main reason for going back to school to finish their college degree as an adult 👏

This is exactly what triggered me to work out for the first time in my life - when my kids were toddlers and I found myself worn out from five minutes at the park. I had no example of consistent exercise, let alone any conversation about protein, healthy fats, sodium, or sugar. I was a complete newbie, but knew I needed to make some changes to live the life I wanted with them. Now I can’t imagine a lifestyle without regular exercise and healthy eating habits, and my kids get to have that example (and participate) so it’s normal to them as they become adults! I also surround myself and follow people who also prioritize healthy lifestyles which is so helpful.
