𝐒𝐢𝐩 𝐛𝐲 𝐒𝐢𝐩: 𝐂𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐞 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 The saying, "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy," emphasises the significance of establishing a balance between work and leisure in order to live a full and harmonised life. Having an open mind and a broad perspective can help us learn more while also enhancing our personal interests, hobbies, and passions, which can result in happiness and self-satisfaction. After all, living a meaningful and purposeful life is more than just work… And that's what I did recently - making time for a fun and participatory “coffee break” experience. My wife enrolled in a unique course because she was curious and wanted to broaden her knowledge. Upon discovering that she had registered, I chose to join her on this educational journey. This is another of our quality "𝐖𝐄" time together, where we’re committed to pursuing shared hobbies and interests. Thanks to NTUC LearningHub for organising the “WSQ Provide Specialty Coffee Service” course, and SkillsFuture SG for the subsidy. And to both Tony and Zann from the School of Coffee for delivering engaging lessons. Also expressing my thanks to the newly formed network group of fellow course mates for the fun and lively coffee talks and sharing knowledge as well. The course provides more than just hands-on skills to brew barista-style espresso, café latte, and cappuccino. Key takeaways include understanding the fundamental differences between coffee beans from various regions, roastings, and learning how extraction and brewing methods can impact the coffee quality. We learned and tasted various varieties of brewed coffee, including local 'Kopi' flavours, while using the same espresso machines. Sip by sip, we’ve gained more knowledge and understanding of specialty coffee quality and services. Indeed, spending time for 3-day coffee brewing lessons has been an enriching and aromatic experience. My appreciation for the intricate process that transforms simple coffee beans into a blend of flavour, aroma, and cultural significance has deepened. From the coffee bean to the cup, we've cherished moments and created memories. Now, I get to savour my daily coffee, whether it's brewed at home or purchased elsewhere, and appreciate life from a fresh, brewed perspective. #passionandpurpose #coffeetime #servicematters #passionforlearning #qualityoflife #PassionForSuccess

This semester at my job was very eye opening. I learned a lot. But the biggest thing i learned was patience. Rather how to be more patient. Patience is key to most things in life. Patience is time. I could benefit from more training, to greater my performance. Three goals i would set for myself is one to try to manage my time better. Two, strive for what i want. Three, start looking at colleges that would truly benefit for me. Think programs and opportunities. Help out more at the restaurant. Help clean the bar, wipe down the computers, do tea (brew a fresh batch of tea, cut lemons/limes, refill jalapeños). #cherokeewbl #georgiawblworks

Did you know the entire month of July is National Ice Cream Month? That's right! An entire month dedicated to this cool sweet treat. When the summer months hit appetites can really fall because of the heat, so what better way to help than to cool down with some ice cream. But this deliciousness also has a history many not be aware about. 🍦 Ancient Beginnings: Persia (500 BC): The earliest versions of ice cream were enjoyed by the Persians, who poured grape juice concentrate over snow to create a refreshing treat. China (200 BC): The Chinese combined milk, rice, and snow to make an early form of ice cream. 🍦 Medieval Era: Middle East: Sharbat, a chilled beverage made from fruit juices and flower petals, was popular. It eventually evolved into a frozen dessert. 🍦 Renaissance Delight: Italy (16th Century): Italian chefs perfected the art of gelato, thanks to improved techniques in freezing and churning. 🍦 European Expansion: France & England (17th Century): Ice cream spread across Europe, becoming a favourite among royalty. The first written ice cream recipe appeared in England in the 1660s. 🍦 American Revolution: North America (18th Century): Ice cream arrived in North America, quickly gaining popularity. 🍦 Industrial Revolution: 19th Century: Innovations like hand-cranked ice cream makers and commercial ice houses made ice cream more accessible to the masses. 🍦 Modern Era: 20th Century: The invention of electric freezers and the rise of ice cream parlors brought ice cream into the homes and hearts of millions. So if you are enjoying some ice cream this summer, remember, the entire month of July is dedicated to it so don't feel guilty about indulging and it's got a longer history than many of us realize. 🍨 Happy National Ice Cream Month Everyone!!!! 🍨 #NationalIceCreamMonth #IceCreamMonth #IceCream #Summer #Delicious #HRProfessional #TalentAcquisition #Recruiter

Good People, Our 173rd dinner is live! Please join us on April 6th at Jeremy's Loft in San Francisco. You can reserve yourself an early bird spot or two here: https://lnkd.in/gPCfFR6P A reminder of our FOUNDING PRINCIPLES. Refuge A fulfilling human life is balanced between time spent problem solving, focused on goals, and time spent exploring and discovering. Good People is a refuge from our relentless pursuit of our own ambitions. We come together to wander across the landscape of ideas with no destination, a love for novelty, the joys of unexpected learning. Connection Community and friendship are vital human needs. Most modern cultures do a poor job meeting those needs. Good People builds connection between strangers through vulnerable and sincere conversations about a wide range of important and timely ideas. You Be You What you may own or what you may have achieved isn’t most important to us. We do our best to leave condescension and hierarchies at the door. We are interested in the contents of your character, in the opinions you carry and in sharing them in a spirit of civility. All kinds of people from all walks of life, all ages, all ethnicities, sexual and gender identities, political and religious ideologies are welcome at our table. Curiosity We ask that you temporarily put down the things you are most ardently pursuing. Through curiosity, we build trust and rapport. Do your best to let go of your agenda, listen and offer what you sincerely think and feel. Whatever you want most, from a romance to an investor or donor, to hiring or getting hired, is not why we’re here. You can pick that up again tomorrow. (continued in comments)

Three years ago I happened to watch a Nicholas Cage movie, "Pig". I could not sleep after listening to this conversation: "Is this the kind of cooking you like?" "It's cutting-edge, it's very exciting; I mean everyone likes it..." "They aren't real. You get that, right? None of it is real; the critics aren't real, the customers aren't real; because it isn't real. You aren't real." "Why you care about these people? They don't care about you, they don't even know you because you haven't shown them... You live your life for them, they son't even see you. You don't even see yourself. " "We don't get a lot of things to really care about." I was hit badly by these powerful words. Why am I doing research? Is what I really do for getting publication, funding, and recognition? Do I care about science enough? As another new year is coming, I hope I can get a fresh new start of my research, for caring about science instead of pretentious causes. I want to get such opportunity to be real in my career. https://lnkd.in/dsKAabwt
