Sales and Marketing often have conflicting visions. And it can be tempting to silo your teams to make life easier. It’s taken a lot of hard work for us to get here. 📢 We Are Preventia Wednesday! ⭐ Meet Charles Robinson, our Director of Sales and Marketing at Preventia Security! Can you tell us a bit about your background and how you became the Director of Sales and Marketing at Preventia? "I worked in the hospitality industry and for a nonprofit before joining the integration industry. Like many, I stumbled into this business as part of my duties somewhere else. One thing led to another, and an integrator I had done some business with recruited me over with a great opportunity I couldn’t turn down. I actually met Aaron when I worked for another integrator. We shared several of the same vendor partners, and as I was working on repositioning that company in the marketplace, Preventia’s name constantly came up. When I saw Aaron had an executive position open, and after a few conversations, I knew this was where I wanted to be." What is your favorite part of working at Preventia Security? "The employee-centric culture and that change is expected." What is your favorite team accomplishment or moment in your time at Preventia? "I’ve only been here for 3 months, but the best thing so far is how the executive team has accepted me and my ideas. It’s amazing how quickly the team I have the honor to lead has aligned and started making significant changes in how we go to market, our marketing strategy, and where we want to go in the next 3-5 years." What are 2-3 fun facts about you that people may not know? "I traveled all over the Southeast after college playing Men’s Slow Pitch Softball. While I don’t get to enjoy it as much as I used to, I’m a fairly serious hobbyist photographer and have won a few contests over the years. I love bourbon—the history, the science, and what it means to American industry." We’re thrilled to have Chuck on our team and can’t wait to see where his leadership takes us!

I hosted three roundtables this week for field and events marketers to discuss Sales & Marketing Alignment, and they were AWESOME conversations. The pretense this topic was built on was that without sales’ support, it’s nearly impossible to understand the realities of field marketing performance - and that really resonated, pretty much universally. A big takeaway that came out of each these sessions was the simple fact that sales doesn’t always know what marketers know. They might not be aware of: 💰 The amount of money you put into the event ⏰ How long it took to get approval 🌪 Or, the extent of the event logistics you’ve been juggling for months They also might not know why you’re actually doing the event. Relaying exactly the purpose of the event will help sales prepare, while mitigating feedback such as “the quality wasn’t there” or “we’re already engaged with all of these accounts” for events meant for brand awareness or converting existing pipeline. TL;DR communication is key (isn’t it always).
