Hiring Alert ❤️ Assoc. Creative Director, Performance Media The JD has the details. And, those details are important. But, I’m actually more interested in talking about why you might 𝗻𝗼𝘁 want this job: 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴. ➡️ 𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘦'𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐'𝘥 𝘴𝘢𝘺: Come make it not-boring. Anyone can make fashion or gaming cool. You want to show the world you’re a phenomenal Creative? Come make finance (in our case, lending) un-boring. 𝗜 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗶𝘁 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗹. ➡️ 𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘦'𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐'𝘥 𝘴𝘢𝘺:  You’re right. What you can see in a Google search isn’t cool… yet. We’re working on it. But, we need help. We need smart, talented, cutting edge designers, thinkers, and Creatives to help us evolve our brand into the best and most relevant version of itself. Think you can do better? Come do it. 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗮𝘀 𝗳𝘂𝗻 𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱. ➡️ 𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘦'𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐'𝘥 𝘴𝘢𝘺:  Then you’re doing it wrong. Performance media lives and dies fast, so you can take more risks. It’s rooted in what works and is quickly measurable. You’re innately freed of subjective or preference-based conversations because “let’s test it” wins every time. If you have a LOT of ideas, want to launch them all, and want to learn from every launch… surprise, you love Performance media. Joining a startup environment is not for everyone.   You must be a ‘doer’ as much as you are a ‘leader’.   This may change over time but if setting up a new office or joining after an early round of funding, structures and teams are typically not as established as in traditional financial services businesses.   You must be comfortable enough to ‘change the paper in the printer’ (although that seems a bit dated these days!).   If you really are, then you must be able to demonstrate that on your CV and at interview.   Not being able to demonstrate this is a major turnoff.

Nobody likes sharing their f*ckups. Here's what I've gleaned from my own errors and from my experiences working for other #founders. 💩 Overly Aggressive Expansion Most people understand the basics of checking their management accounts and creating financial projections. Yet, given different risk appetites, some founders tend to overestimate the numbers. It's essential to take calculated risks. 💩 Fear of #ProductLaunch I've worked as a Business Development Manager for a founder who wouldn't let me cold call (interesting, right?). I still wonder why he hired me only to avoid selling. His rationale? The product wasn't ready for users since it wasn't complete. Fun fact: it's a productivity #Saas product that's already been in development for a year. Predictably, I was fired within 2 months because they couldn't see my value 😂. 💩 Hiring Mismatches When it comes to hiring, avoid overqualified or underqualified candidates. Understand your products or services; you don’t need a Stanford graduate to manage your low-code product. Conversely, you can't expect an ordinary 15-year-old to develop your generative AI product (I'm not referring to ChatGPT integrations). 💩 Unwise Investments and Unnecessary Expenses Being a star at #raisingcapital doesn’t mean your #investor will be thrilled if you splurge the company's funds on a 50K club night. Furthermore, avoid hiring a market launcher who's paid 30K a month before even testing the waters. (All in USD, by the way…) 💩 Building a Product Without Surveying Users! Just because you're a customer who wants this product doesn't mean others want it too! Developing an #app based solely on your taste and expecting others to align and buy your design won't cut it. I got mixed reactions to my job change - and I understand why!! For debt collection, many still picture the scary man with a baseball bat. And being honest, debt collection isn't the industry I thought I'd land in either. But MarTech & FinTech share a big component - the Tech part 💻 And using technology to revolutionize this industry makes so much sense. Technology that's been known to Marketeers already! Understanding consumers and how to reach them is one of the key questions in Marketing. A lot of 💰 goes into exactly that. Why do we throw out these considerations once someone fails to pay a bill? With that question in mind, in 2016, PAIR Finance was born. Several hundreds of clients and 5 additional countries later, I joined. Today, it's been 6 intense weeks. The "onboarding" is long over, I have joined and seen several calls already, looked at the first processes, and gave my feedback on what I saw with tech setups. What I haven't seen? The man with the baseball bat 😉

So it seems cash 💰 is still king when it comes to what most are looking for in a new role. Some really interesting results from our recent poll, thank you to all the gave your answers! Here's another interesting poll, this time from Svyatoslav Biryulin, and my own hot take on the #strategicleadership considerations. For small or startup companies, the answer should often be "yes," but at larger companies the #csuite should focus on peer-level discussions with customers, potential customers, and investors. A CEO-to-CEO or CISO-to-CISO discussion is frequently the best way to align quickly, reach agreement, or solve a problem without a lot of intermediaries. Really big companies often have an Office of the CxO to handle routine matters, but that executive can get still get directly involved with clients when it's warranted. The goal is NOT to create layers of flappers, though. It's simply a pragmatic time management issue once your customer base gets large enough to make a truly #opendoor policy for every single customer impractical.
