A new year, a new hustle... *Ode to the Office of One* (or, The Hamster Wheel Hustle, 2024 edition) Here's to the solopreneurs, working late again. Striving to meet deadlines in a job that never ends. Juggling tasks, switching hats, chasing down a deal, Trying to feed the pipeline, from your hamster wheel. Bookkeeper, marketer, customer service, sales. Doing your own tech support and wrangling emails. Project manager, strategist, creative lead, Thinker, doer, planner, striving to succeed. I salute the founders who are always "on", Working all the hours in a job that’s never done. Sacrificing weekends, weekday evenings too, Never switching off ‘cause there’s more that you could do. The loneliness, the struggle, the endless lists, In the face of challenges you continue to persist. So I salute the visionaries with dreams big and bold, The endless new ideas, and stories yet untold. Striving for a lifestyle, potential in our hands. Building up our empires, making epic plans. ❌ You don't need 7 sources of income. ❌ You just need a passion project (side-hustle). Do it by yourself for 12 months. Delegate it to someone else, once your time becomes a contraint. Outsource content creation & posting but still keep it under your brand/name. Outsource sales. Build a machine that does not need you. Have a taste of freedom 1 source in multiple places 1 source with a bigger sales team 💥that’s how you go to 7 figures PS. When your side hustle grows so big that you will have offices in 7 countries, then you will have your 7 sources of income 😉

In 2019, I traveled to New York with less than a hundred dollars in my pocket. I was broke, miserable, and I had no idea what I was doing with my life. And what I thought was "working for myself" was really just working for someone else with no benefits. —The clients I worked with never paid on time. —The number of projects I was given was inconsistent. —The projects we'd have were sometimes not the most ethical. Every time I clocked in, I felt this overwhelming sense of dread. Being a freelance writer oftentimes felt like fraud to me. Being my own boss was supposed to be a dream, but it was all a lie. I felt like I had left one rat race and just created another. And the worst part is, my rat race didn't come with benefits, PTO, or working hours. I worked 10+ hours a day, 7 days a week. And I was just as broke as I was before. I'd been freelancing full-time for about 4 years, and it all came crashing down not long after that trip to New York. But I don't regret it one bit because I learned one of the biggest lessons in my life. Just because you failed once, doesn't mean you should quit. It means you learn from your mistakes and try again. I learned how to pivot → losing is never permanent. I learned how to level up → I absorbed and applied everything. I learned how to start over → My new biz is now stronger than ever. It took losing everything I thought I'd built for myself over the span of several years to realize that working for myself was never the dream. It was always freedom. Freedom of time and money. And this time around, my business isn't built on hustle and grind culture. It's built on my story, and that story is one of resilience and freedom.
