Fully powered by solar, backhauling via 4G LTE and announcing a WiFi network that is accessible from over 300 meters away and can connect up to 500 devices simultaneously. This thing is a beast! We had a blast debuting the S618 at the National Tribal Telecommunications Association Tribal Broadband Summit in Phoenix this week! We talked to tribal members, systems integrators, and network designers about their communities’ huge needs for solar-powered mesh among the connectivity solutions they are advocating for.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of seeing how Ganief Manuel and iNethi Technologies are deploying fixed wireless high-speed internet access to schools, homes, and businesses in Ocean View, a community of about 20,000 people located near Cape Town, South Africa. This community-led initiative leverages anchor institutions and combines low-cost on- and off-grid connectivity, alternative payment systems, local content, and digital adoption programs. Danny Gardner from Mesh++ demonstrated how their quick deploy solar-powered Wi-Fi Mesh solution can help communities, like Ocean View, cost-effectively close the digital divide. Democratizing online learning! The pandemic showed how gaps in WiFi access disproportionately hurt children who don’t have easy access to online learning. What do you think? Mesh++ continues to tackle this challenge. Mesh++ is providing wireless internet connectivity to Champaign, IL public school students living in the Shadowwood Mobile Home Park. Their goal is to help facilitate online learning for students by the start of the fall semester.                                    Mesh++ has also installed solar-powered public WIFI hotspots at Hedge POP! Park, a temporary park created by the City of Champaign and the United Garden Hills Neighborhood Association to promote the ‘Safe Places, Active Spaces’ Initiative within the Garden Hills community.
