Darlington Workspace tenant Trident Manor Ltd celebrated its tenth anniversary in September!🎂 We met with Managing Director Andy Davis to reflect on the last ten years. ❓If you could go back ten years and give yourself one piece of advice, what would it be? Never chase the dollar. Know your worth and the value of your services, and never undersell yourself. ❓Do you have a moment that stands out in particular for you? There have been several over the years, but I think seeing projects come to fruition gives a real sense of achievement. Being involved in the protective designs of the Spanish Gallery and the new Faith Museum in Bishop Auckland and seeing them open to the public, knowing that the assets are as protected as they can be, is a really pleasing achievement. But there have also been cases where I have responded to political upheaval in Armenia. Being on the ground, ensuring the protection of a global client's assets was also rewarding. ❓What’s the most significant change you have seen in the industry during this time? Clients are starting to realise that our services not only protect a client's assets, but very often we can save them considerable amounts of money through providing sensible and pragmatic advice and guidance. We're laying some exciting groundwork with Placemaking pioneers Luisa Bravo from Museo Spazio Pubblico and John Bela, co-creator of the parklet concept and International Park(ing) Day. Together, we're initiating an International Parklet Symposium in Bologna, Italy, slated for the third weekend in September. This event is particularly significant, given the vital role of parklets as outdoor dining spaces and essential infrastructure during the pandemic. The future of parklets is at a crucial juncture. Initially envisioned as public spaces rather than mere extensions for businesses, parklets face new challenges as city regulations revert, often making outdoor spaces less accessible. Our mission is clear: to advocate and ensure that parklets retain their original purpose as public, inclusive spaces. Join us in shaping this transformation – because if it's up to us, access to vibrant outdoor spaces won't be a privilege of the past. #parkingday #parklets #outdoordining #publicspace #meetups #bologna #italy

Hello folks, ready for a new tip on how to enjoy Florence and stay on the budget? Our intern at Franky in New York, Kate Jackson, on the international studies program run by Syracuse University Florence, is exploring the city in search of useful tips for a budget-savvy vacation. Let's see what she has for us today. As I probably mentioned before, I love spending time outdoors. Although not hard to do in Florence, wide-open green spaces can be difficult to come by. The best free parks I have found include Parco delle Cascine, Parco del Mensola, and the Giardino dell’Iris, all of which offer outstanding scenery and various paths to explore. If running is not your style, do not fret there are so many other things to do outside for virtually free before the summer heat takes over. The markets around Florence are one of my favorite places to roam. With so many different goods for sale, your eyes will never get tired of window shopping. Another reason why Parco delle Cascine is such a great stop is the markets that pop up there every Tuesday and stretch a full kilometer along the river. In addition to shopping, Florence offers some other especially appealing sites to set your wandering eyes on. For one, the city’s street art is very impressive. Street musicians too are even easier to come by, especially in the city center, and they may surprise you with their niche talents. One of the best sights to visit outdoors is the Piazzale Michelangelo. During daylight hours it offers outstanding views of the entirety of Florence, but the skyline just before dusk is even more remarkable. Many other famous sculptures can be explored outdoors in the Piazza della Signoria, under the Loggia dei Lanzi. Directly to the right of this, the Fountain of Neptune sits in all its whimsical wonder as well. While exploring Florence has been the utmost highlight of my time here, the beach is only an hour or two away. Cinque Terre, Forte dei Marmi, and Castiglioncello are all a very manageable weekend trip away. Last but not least, Florence is situated in the valley of various other smaller towns which offer great hikes and an escape from the bustling of the city. Specifically, Fiesole has a very peaceful hike in Parco di Monte Ceceri. #firenze #florence #Budgetfriendly #florentinevacation #visititaly #syracuseuniversity #FrankyinNewYork

Immersed in the Evolution of Aparthotels: A Passion for Hospitality Innovation I love watching videos of the latest iterations of hospitality properties and in particular ones involving the evolution of Aparthotels in mature markets like the UK where this asset class first came on to the market well over a decade ago and has since grown at a phenomenal rate. Observing their dynamic evolution within established markets provides valuable insights into the future of hospitality and the exciting possibilities that lie ahead. From the seamless integration of technology for enhanced guest experiences to the creation of vibrant communal spaces that foster a sense of community, Aparthotels are pushing the boundaries of hospitality design and functionality. These projects serve as a testament to the ingenuity and vision of developers and operators within the industry, constantly striving to redefine what it means to offer a modern and flexible accommodation solution. #Aparthotels #HospitalityInnovation #FutureofHospitality #UK #RealEstate #MarketTrends https://lnkd.in/g_KvJHvy

Even as offices remain stubbornly empty, people have chosen to stay in Chicago, Washington, Los Angeles, etc., because we want to be near other creative and ambitious people, to eat great food and enjoy amazing culture. But a lot of city dwellers did move to smaller cities – places like Nashville, Raleigh, Columbus – and have chosen to stay. What we’re finding is that while they may embrace having a little extra space and slightly lower rent, they miss some of the benefits of greater density. So what’s the solution, both for these transplants and the cities that want to keep them? The answer lies in what I’ll call “urban pockets”.
