“What exactly do I gain from upgrading my company’s hiring capabilities?” This question and all its variations coming from business leaders represent the massive misunderstanding of the purpose behind getting better at hiring. Most founders (in my universe) have limited their horizon to only ONE use case for hiring capabilities upgrades - “when we need to hire lots of people”. Here are just a few other use cases (if the video below does not suffice): ⛔️ Avoid wrong hires: - just one can kill your business; - or cost you lots of 💰 and missed opportunities / milestones; ⏰ Prevent / prepare before you have a problem: - hiring takes time; - hiring capabilities take time; You can’t afford to be reactive / to “wait and see what happens”. Start now with planning. 🌍 Expansion: - what works at home, won’t help you abroad; - if you can’t hire well abroad, the alternatives will cost you bags of 💰(even for just 1-2 hires); The list is much longer than that. #better #hiring is your job as a founder

I agree with this post 1000%. When working on a team no matter what kind of team you are working with whether the team is formal, informal, virtual, self-managed, etc., you want to make sure you get to know your team members. You want to know their strengths and weaknesses so that way a problem arises everyone on the team can find a way to help each other out to find a solution to the problem. Even after there is no need for said team, it is very important to have a great relationship and network with your members. I have been on teams in both school and the workplace where the team was able to communicate through the project which helped us be successful. I was able to build a friendship and network with these teams whom I still connect with to this day. I have also been on teams where there was not always great communication which didn't lead to the most successful results. This post also reminds me of a discussion we had in my Organizational Behavior class this past spring about "The Problem with All-Stars." The problem with All-Stars on a team is that there are too many egos at play. People may prioritize individual achievements over team success which can lead to total failure for the team and frustration between members. At the end of the day, teamwork thrives on mutual respect, collaboration and communication. As they say, there is no "I" in team! Most "All-Stars" may be used to working on an individual level which blocks out team communication. "All-Stars" may take on more challenging tasks while leaving easy and often daunting tasks for the others can lead to feelings of anger and envy so therefore teams that have been working together for a long time can beat a team of "All-Stars" that are only together for a season in a hypothetical sports game.

Great things in business are never done by one person instead they're done by a team of people

Trust can be built among the team by keeping transparency with the team.

A team is not a group of people who work together...

A-players know the value of an A-team.
