Employers should proactively prevent work, staffing, and schedules from giving employees unnecessary physical and mental stress, burnout, injuries, and ill health. This is better than just acknowledging the problem or empathising with workers but doing nothing to solve it. Also, employees should know when to speak up, cry out, ask for help or OPT out (last resort) when experiencing symptoms of burnout. A stitch in time saves nine (lives).
