College of Policing Executive Leadership Programme. Just finished conducting a series of assessed structured discussions with senior police leaders on the Executive Leadership Programme along with Chief Constables from around the UK. The ELP has been quite a journey for those on it, including various assessed development modules. Well done to those who were successful in holding down challenging day jobs as well as undertaking the programme. Many have now taken on Chief Officer roles. Good luck, policing is more challenging than ever and needs the best we can offer. #Collegeofpolicing

Experienced senior administrator with role spanning teaching, research, and supporting infrastructure, systems and strategies to support Warwick Business School's strategic mission and goals
I'm on my own leadership journey; trying to reflect, listen, grow, and learn from what works well and where I can improve my style and ways of working. There's lots of models out there about leadership and I've been fortunate to learn from lots of great leaders I've worked for, or seen at a distance. Advice from James Timpson, the new Prisons Minister and a successful business leader, has surfaced today and strikes me as particularly sage advice (see below). More to reflect on...! #leadership

I had the privilege to attend a keynote session with best-selling author Simon Sinek's The Optimism Company during the International Association of Chiefs of Police. I tried to pull together some of the best leadership advice as he spoke directly to police chiefs, sheriffs, strategic comms advisors, and leaders. Here is part 1 of his thought-provoking challenge to the leadership of our noble profession. #IACP2023 #SimonSinek #PoliceLeadership

“If we can futureproof our leaders, we can futureproof our organizations and public safety,” shares Chirag Bhatt - BSc, MA, CMM III, Inspector, Professionalism Leadership & Inclusion Office – York Regional Police. During Schulich Foresight Live, Inspector Bhatt discussed the rapid pace of change facing leaders today, which creates an unpredictable future. To prepare leaders for these ever-evolving environments, it is crucial to futureproof them through leadership training. York Regional Police is achieving this through the Future of Leadership in Policing Program, developed in partnership with Schulich ExecEd. By prioritizing early career development and providing police leaders with the skills to excel in any future scenario, resilient leaders can be cultivated. This, in turn, futureproofs their organizations and enhances public safety, meeting the expectations of their communities. Many great leaders face the challenge of knowing when to step down, with Winston Churchill serving as a prominent example. During wartime, his inspiring speeches rallied the nation during dire times. However, in the post-war era, his leadership style no longer resonated with the changing circumstances. Churchill's failure to adapt to evolving times led to his loss in the subsequent general election, resulting in a humbling defeat. This serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of recognizing when to gracefully exit the stage of leadership. #LeadershipLessons #LegacyManagement #Adaptability #WinstonChurchill
