February is always a weird month. Its typically a time for change. Whether its a friend moving teams or leaving a company, a new leader, new customers, a new account list, a new message that you need convey. A new year comes with challenges too, some new, some old, some of them are the same as last year but just viewed through a different lens. In my humble opinion there's a couple ways to go about the changes and challenges. You can avoid them completely which is never a good decision. Or leverage your own growth over the past year to work with the changes, overcome the challenges. Ultimately writing this out for not only myself but maybe other people that are feeling the weight of change. Change can be scary but can be good, it helps you grow and become better; personally, professionally and as a person. Sometimes in the moment its just tough to realize that. Last night, while picking up takeout dinner for my family I walked through a dimly lit parking lot to reach the pizza shop, I spotted something on the ground—a no longer shiny dime, worn and easily overlooked. This simple discovery struck a chord with me, reflecting on my journey from growing up economically disadvantaged. Finding that worn dime in the dark is a powerful metaphor for problem-solving in our careers and lives. Often, the solutions to our challenges are like that dime—hidden in plain sight, not immediately shiny or obvious, but valuable nonetheless. My background taught me to see potential where others might not, to appreciate the small, often overlooked opportunities, and to persist even when the path is dimly lit. In our lives, it's crucial to remain observant and persistent, to dig deeper and find value in unexpected places. Just as I picked up that dime, we must recognize and seize the opportunities that come our way, no matter how small or hidden they might seem.
