After over 14 years, today was my final day at Tesla. Bittersweet for sure, but not that shocking if I am honest given the current environment. I joined Tesla back in the early days of development on Model S. As a startup it was very fast paced, dynamic and exciting. At times it seemed we would never make it, but the Leadership was very committed and prepared to do whatever to took to see it thru. I remember the energy that came with the new Factory in Fremont and, through the struggles, the excitement of the Model S Launch Day! Next came Model X with those “bonkers” doors, followed by the “Production Hell” that was Model 3 Launch. After M3 I believe we gained some maturity with the relatively drama free development and launch of MY. Other Projects followed including CyberTruck, which I was never a big fan of but did grow on me when seeing on the road (particularly wrapped!) Thanks to all the great Tesla teams and Managers I have had the pleasure to work with over these years - they truly are the best! I will take some time off to think and perhaps do a little traveling. Thanks Tesla, you are still “the best job I ever had..” Cheers!
In other news, I have a very underused PunchBag, highly recommended at times like this..
Good grief Dave! Retired or back to Rover?
Sorry to hear buddy! It’s still a achievement to have lasted 14 Years! (Condolences for your Mom and Dad)
It was an honor to know you, David Fleet. You showed me a lot back in the days at Water Test Model S. It was a fun ride.
I still remember our chats at Tesla. You introducing me to the word ‘gruntled’. Seems a long time ago and only yesterday. What has happened is not a nice feeling (speaking from my own experience). But it’s not personal and it is not a reflection on your ability. It just goes with the territory in the EV (and Silicon Valley) world. Enjoy some down time. You have earned it.
Take cate David
You are a legend Fleety … without folks like you we wouldn’t have got through the Model S ramp or Model X … thank you. Enjoy whatever you do next, whatever it is make sure it’s for you and yours.
Can't wait to hear about your next adventure, David Fleet! Your contributions to Tesla over the years have been significant and directly impacted the success of the company. Wishing you the very best!
Those that were there Dave know. Congratulations good luck with future.
