Europe saw a record number of renewable energy PPAs contracted in 2023, with deal count and volume surging 65% and 40% year-on-year respectively, according to a report from Pexapark #renewables

We’ve taken another step forward in the progression of our flagship Swedish onshore wind portfolio. Through a fourth PPA, this time with Procter & Gamble who will offtake most of the output from our 140MW Sörlidberget wind farm, we have now contracted almost 100% of the renewable energy generated by this 553MW cluster.   Securing PPAs is a central part of a long-term, subsidy-free investment strategy, and it’s great to partner with such a key player as Procter & Gamble to drive decarbonisation.    https://lnkd.in/eRj7Exx4  

Poland has a significant number of clean energy projects at the ready-to-build stage and has been identified by Clean Energy Pipeline as one of the key markets to look out for in Europe’s renewable energy sector. The Polish government has set ambitious targets for renewable energy, particularly with an aim to increase the share of renewables in the country’s energy mix to 32% by 2030. To achieve this goal, Poland is focusing on facilitating the development of these ready-to-build projects through streamlined permitting processes and supportive regulatory frameworks. Poland’s clean energy project financing activity more than doubled last year thanks to deals across a range of renewable technologies, including solar PV, onshore wind, and offshore wind. Poland ranked 11th in terms of the world’s top countries for renewables project financing in 2023, according to the figures from Clean Energy Pipeline, with a total deal value of more than $11.8 billion. Pan-European renewables company VSB Group is one such company that has seen fit to bolster the deployment of clean energy projects in Poland and is currently working on its own ready-to-build projects in the country. VSB outlined its plans to develop more renewable energy projects in Poland to Clean Energy Pipeline. “VSB is benefiting from the government’s strategy outlook with its recently finalised 42.6 MW wind project,” said Hubert B. Kowalski, Managing Director VSB Poland. “Additionally, we are advancing a 41.6 MW project in the latest construction phase. Statkraft and Better Energy have expanded their collaboration in Poland by entering into agreements for the energy exchange from four solar parks. As part of the newly established power purchase agreements, Statkraft is set to procure renewable energy from Better Energy's Krapkowice solar park for a duration of 10 years. Krapkowice, now connected to the grid, has the capacity to produce 30GWh of renewable energy annually. A wind farm near Berlin in Germany is getting new owners with European Energy purchasing the land rights and permits to put up renewable energy from SEF, a Danish utilities company. The plan from European Energy is to more than quadruple the energy production at site by upgrading the wind turbines. European Energy has announced the acquisition of Niemegk wind farm located in the vicinity of Berlin, previously owned and operated by SEF – a Danish utilities company. This acquisition includes the transfer of land rights and essential permits necessary for the construction and generation of renewable energy. The wind farm, currently operating with a capacity of 30 MW since its inception between 2004 and 2007, will undergo a repowering effort.
