We all know what’s necessary to engage towards a more sustainable environment but why is it sometimes just so difficult to put this knowledge into practice? And which personality factors actually encourage us to take action for sustainable development? Last Thursday, we shared the first results of an exploratory study in which we tackle these questions during our Research & Education Day. Together with Joris Boonen and Ankie Hoefnagels, we found that personality traits such as open-mindedness and cultural empathy can predict (self-perceived) proactive behavior towards ecological sustainability. The first results seem promising and we are looking forward to delve deeper into these relationships! Within the frame of my new job position as European Project Manager for EDUC-SHARE, I am currently participating in EDUC’s steering committee in Potsdam, Germany. EDUC, the European Digital UniverCity, is an alliance of 8 European universities developing a European-integrated university. It offers fascinating project management opportunities and challenges. With many internal stakeholders within your home university and the partner universities, how do you map the project across the different services of the alliance? How can you know your partner universities in-depth to engage with them smartly? How can you apply agile management in institutions? The alliance is developing new processes to address these challenges and is becoming an instrument for change with beautiful success stories to showcase. It is developing a new approach to mobility and taking university collaboration to a new level. As already announced, e-DIPLOMA Project partners are meeting in person in the monumental city of Budapest to analyze the current situation of this amazing project. Today's agenda included hot topics such as measures to evaluate the effectiveness of immersive technologies in education, co-creation with policymakers, exploitation of results, and communication and dissemination. In addition, the consortium has had the opportunity to test two of the three innovative courses we are developing. Tomorrow, we will focus on the third prototype, summarize the entire co-design process, and analyze the key ethical concerns that will be addressed in the pilot actions. The meta4.0 program, a two-year Master's initiative conducted exclusively in English, collaborates with six universities across France, Slovenia, Norway, Germany, and Italy, aiming to equip students with excellence in Digital Manufacturing, Clean Manufacturing, Sustainable Manufacturing, and Smart Manufacturing to address the challenges of Manufacturing 4.0. The Erasmus Mundus scholarship for the meta4.0 program offers a substantial lump sum of 1,400 € per month for 24 months, covering subsistence, student travel, and accommodation costs. Additionally, the scholarship fully covers all participation costs for the four semesters, including tuition fees, library and laboratory expenses, and other mandatory costs associated with the student's participation in the Master's study program. As an Erasmus Mundus scholarship recipient, I believe that above all, the most valuable aspect is the opportunity to forge meaningful friendships with outstanding individuals from diverse countries. If you are interested in applying to meta4.0, the deadline for applications is February 15th. Additionally, there is an upcoming event, the "meta4.0 webinar," scheduled for January 17th at 1:00 PM (French time). This webinar will introduce the Erasmus Mundus meta4.0 program and provide valuable advice on how applicants can enhance their applications.

We analyzed the demographics and the portfolio of vice-presidents of German universities and universities of applied sciences (UAS). First of all, 39 % of the vice-presidents are female - for presidents it's only 29 %. I expect a rising percentage also for the top leadership position in the coming years, since the career path often goes from vice-president to president. Looking at the portfolio of the vice-presidents, it's clear that almost every HEI has a VP for research and teaching and learning.Interestingly, two third of the UAS also have a vice-president for transfer, showing the rising importance of transfer strategies and activities especially for UAS. Other tasks are represented to a smaller extent, such as sustainability (20 % at UAS, 14 % at universities) and diversity (24 % at universities, 8 % at UAS). 🚛 Logistics and Mobility Summer School 🎒 It was a pleasure to participate in Logistics and Mobility Summer School between the IAE Pau-Bayonne and the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences (House Of Logistics and Mobility) for 2 weeks💡 I learnt about transports, logistics and how AI / New Technologies can enhance and answer to the future issues in particular for big cities...
