People don’t be fooled by the “non-profit” signage at Value Village. Read the fine print on their website or even on this sign. They are a 100% for-profit retailer, and while there is nothing wrong with recycling and selling used clothing, be mindful that they are intentionally misleading all of us into thinking they are a non-profit or charity, just to get your items for free. If you think you are helping a worthy cause, you are wrong. You are just giving free merchandise to a retailer that will make a huge profit from your free items. In 2022 Value Village earned a Gross Profit of $560 Million USD. If you sincerely want to donate your items to a charity or non-profit, take them to GOODWILL or a local church collection. VALUE VILLAGE IS NOT A NON-PROFIT!!!! Don’t be fooled!!!

It is very common when you learn the truth about Tr@//ick1ng to feel overwhelmed. Overwhelm can lead to shutting down or freezing. When it feels like too much we often can't move forward to take action. What if, however, you could move forward by supporting an organization that is taking actions that are making a difference? Last week was the official Groundhog Day...and for the aspirational social impact aims of the GB Athletes its Groundhog Year. Simply, the project will never reach its FULL fundraising potential, unless corporates take up the FREE OF CHARGE partnership opportunity with the GB Athletes. We have excellent third party auction company sellers who will keep us ticking over, but after 12 years I get that 90% of charity auctions want FREE ENTRY FEES for our experience days. Whether supporting a specific good cause, or working with the GB Athletes to support the widest possible range of good causes, donating entry fees will see corporate donations multiply. Did I just get out the wrong side of bed this morning, or is tipping culture getting out of control?! Making a donation via JustGiving and it defaults to adding a 17% tip WTF? What am I tipping for anyway? This "tip" isn't going to the charity - surely it's just going to the profits of the platform? If you don't want to leave a tip, they make you jump through hoops: 1) Move the slider all the way to the left? Nope, that just reduces the tip to 10%. 2) Click "enter custom amount"? Nope, that just reduces it to £1.50. 3) To actually just donate the amount you wanted to donate in the first place, you need to then override the £1.50 to £nil. I do understand it costs money to run these platforms but this seems to me a case of taking the p***

Your website should be making your life as a business owner or leader of a non-profit easier AND it should be making things easier for your users. Even basic website functionality like clearly stating your hours and location helps visitors to your site find what they are looking for and reduces the phone calls asking these questions or lost business opportunities. Functionality like online payments makes it easy for your customers to buy what they want and it makes it easier for you as a business owner. You don't have to be wealthy to be philanthropic. I think that donating your time to help organizations that share similar beliefs is just as important as donating money. There are organizations out there that have plenty of financial capital, but not enough human capital. This causes a slowdown in the organizations growth as there aren't enough people behind the scenes, or getting in front of others to spread the word about what the organization does. Do any of you volunteer your time? If so, please share what organization(s) you support and how many hours you give monthly or yearly.

I'm running my first ever Marathon in Seville. On the 18th of February. Nervous? Yep, a little. I'm finally that long Sunday runner. The past few months have been full of intense training. & I've never felt better. Running a business is tough, But consistently improving your fitness, strength, and ability isn't for the weak. But something we should all do! I chose to run a Marathon for 3 reasons. → Improve my physical fitness. → Increase my mental strength (it gets a bit boring). → Raise money for a charitable organisation, and give back. So far, I've hit 2/3. And I need your help to achieve the 3rd! I'm fundraising for hhac., a non-profit that hosts fundraiser events to raise money for charity work.
