Watching change management in real-time. Reflect for a moment. We are all being asked to change the way live, at quite a profound level. Our habitual paradigms are shifting, maybe permanently, and the world seems more uncertain than many of us have experienced before. We are being asked to change we way we live and work by our leaders. Most of us see a compelling reason for the change and how we can personally benefit from it. Some people are less compliant, as they can't see a sustainable answer to 'what's in it for me?' As Gartner Research has recently said, to paraphrase, "The success of change programmes is mainly due to the CAPABILITY of people to change, not their COMMITMENT to change". That's why government and business leadership needs to give the people the ability to change behaviour, not just tell them they should. Something for us all to consider as we move through uncharted waters. Steve Cook Malcolm McDonald Peter Strohkorb Advisory Gartner for HR Gartner for Communications #changemangement #coranavirus

Autonomous vehicles was the big new thing five years ago, but its momenrtum appears to have slowed right down. Here's an explanation why. "Number one is that this stuff is harder than manufacturers realised,” says Matthew Avery, director of research at Thatcham Research. While about 80% of self-driving is relatively simple – making the car follow the line of the road, stick to a certain side, avoid crashing – the next 10% involves more difficult situations such as roundabouts and complex junctions. “The last 10% is really difficult,” says Avery. “That’s when you’ve got, you know, a cow standing in the middle of the road that doesn’t want to move.” #electricvehicle #talkaboutvalue https://lnkd.in/dsxvWPDe

I think this makes sense. I believe that, today, people buy from John Lewis because of its brand range, customer service and post sale experience, rather than just price. 25 years ago this wasn't the case. Value changes, but it is ALWAYS in the eye of the customer. #talkaboutvalue johnlewis #customerservice #experience

William Buist's new book, Intentional Mastery, is out today. It inspired this post. Thank you. William Buist The phrase, "Those that can't, teach", is a shortening of the line 'Those who can, do; those who can't, teach' from George Bernard Shaw's 1905 play, Man and Superman. And it's still rolled out as a demeaning trope by many people. In my view, they're wrong. Two of the most powerful influencers I've known, and who literally changed the direction of life, were teachers. They were my English and Music teachers at secondary school, Mr Aubrey and Mr Brown. Forty years on, I'm still in touch with them. They were brilliant people; but beyond their unbelievable knowledge and passion, they shared new ways of looking at things that made them accessible, understandable and relevant. Shakespeare and Henry Purcell, the 17th century English composer, as you're asking. Likewise, Adele, the eponymous singer, mentioned her English teacher, Ms McDonald, as her inspiration on a recent TV show. Talking about Ms McDonald, she said "It was just one year, but she got me really into literature." Clearly, those that can, also teach. William Buist, in his new book, Intentional Mastery, applies this to the business world. It's William's strongly held view that any 'master' of their field has a responsibility to teach, especially other 'experts'. "When Masters teach Experts, it becomes deeply collaborative. The insights flow both ways. The Expert is lifted by the Master who, like a boat on a rising tide, is lifted by the experience and insights they both get". The reality of mastery is that teaching, particularly an expert, is more than sharing knowledge. It is, as William shares on page 198, "about the sharing of insight, drawn from the experience of using deeply honed skills". So next time you hear this lazy, well-worn phrase about teaching, remember that, in many if not most cases, it's the exact opposite. Teaching others is an intentional action in becoming a master in your field, building on your acknowledged expertise and staying one step ahead of the competition. #mastery #masterytosuccess #intentionalmastery Kate Trafford FPSA Nadine Hack Ceri Newton-Sargunar • Agile Behavioural Coach Jan Bowen-Nielsen Richard Dyter Darren Harris Mike Pagan Sue Richardson Beverley Glick The Right Book Company Paul Clark

A soon-to-be published book arrived today. It's by William Buist. This quote on page 39 sang to me. "Mastery is a state of self-awareness, a deepening of one's knowledge, not just of what you do but of yourself. It comes with a determination to address and improve those areas of yourself which do not currently serve you." Well said, William. #mastery #intentionalmastery #selfawareness The Right Book Company

1 in 5 of cars sold in the UK last month (Jan 2022) had PLUGS. More than 1 in 8 was electric only. Over 1 in 3 of cars had both electric and fossil fuels engines (hybrids). 1 in 2 of cars had traditional internal combustion engines only - 45% petrol and 5% diesel. The UK car parc is changing, and fast! #evs #hybridvehicles

I loved this phrase (or is it metaphor?)... 'talk with your feet'... ... as it's a clever alternative to "actions speak louder than words". Thanks to the fiction author, a.m. homes, for this gem. #nicephrase #newinsight #metaphor #authors

I've heard that, weight for weight, the botox serum used for cosmetic procedures, is the most valuable substance on the planet. I wonder if this book comes anywhere close? Value, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. #talkaboutvalue #botoxcosmetic
